It is because there is a form sense base as a support. For example, like eye consciousness. Furthermore, the Vaibhashika school believes that the feeling of consciousness depends on the accumulation of extremely small particles, so it will not become a feeling of mind, and it contradicts the sutra that says, "Mind is an internal source, invisible." That's what it says. Even if there are two views, as it is said, "The last five resultant aggregates are also born together with this," for the tenets that want to be established like a secret meaning, it should also be like an explanation, thinking that consciousness has a co-emergent support, that is, the secret form of the heart. Vaibhashika: If there is no afflicted mind, why would there be the fault of no difference between the formless absorption and the cessation absorption? The answer is: If there is no afflicted mind, then the nature of the two samadhis will become indistinguishable, because the cessation of the six consciousnesses is the same, and there is no difference between the existence or non-existence of the afflicted mind. According to us, the formless absorption has the pride of "I am," self-grasping, and attachment to self, so it is not pacified, while the cessation absorption is free from these, so it is said to be pacified. Suppose: Because the earth and attention are different, it will not become indistinguishable. The answer is: No, even if there is such a difference, the difference in the nature of pacified and unpacified is unreasonable, it still exists. Or, there is also a difference between the continuums of noble ones and ordinary beings. The answer is: The difference between the two is also not suitable for secret explanation, because the noble ones abandon the formless absorption from the fault of the formless absorption, and that is also because self-grasping, etc., are not pacified, and if they abandon it only because of the cessation of the six consciousnesses, then the cessation absorption will also be abandoned. According to us, because there is a difference between pacified and unpacified, it is reasonable to abandon or not abandon. Likewise, in the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, it is also said: "The formless absorption and the cessation absorption will also have the fault of being indistinguishable, because the formless absorption is distinguished by the afflicted mind, while the cessation absorption is not, otherwise, these two will become indistinguishable." That's what it says. If there is no afflicted mind, then will those born in the formless realm have the fault of not having self-grasping? The answer is: At the beginning of being born in the formless realm, consciousness has self-grasping.
