Since good and non-good have already been cast, the placer itself is the caster. If it is said that it is not ripening, that is not pervasive, otherwise, the previous moment of the Alaya consciousness would also become unpredicted. Secondly, saying "it is impossible to be a similar cause" will not cause harm either, because the placer is similar, and that alone fulfills the meaning of a similar cause. Thirdly, saying that the precepts will not continuously arise will not cause harm either, as long as one is close to the Dharma that contradicts what is being learned, shame and embarrassment will arise, as well as mindfulness, and if one has the ability to maintain the precepts, then that alone is enough to establish the precepts that were previously taken, and that is also because it follows at that time. Furthermore, since both explanations of "unclear" are explained as unpredicted, it is established as unpredicted. Then, in the Hidden Meaning, "The inner is also slightly unclear, because whatever is produced by the inner good and non-good dharmas is good and non-good." And "The seeds are also unobscured and unpredicted, therefore only the nature of unobscured and unpredicted phenomena will arise, but it is not possible for unobscured and unpredicted karma to produce good and non-good dharmas." Are these statements not contradictory? The latter statement is only to place it in the former view, and it is not certain, otherwise, the unpredicted mind will not be the immediate cause of good and non-good minds. The former statement is that the explanation of "unclear" is only a slight disguise, and its own system is the same as the previous disguise cited, because in the Hidden Meaning of showing the example of tree resin, "Habits are not different from the Alaya consciousness, because they arise with the Alaya consciousness as the cause, and because they do not appear as good and non-good themselves, they are not diverse," at the time of habits, they are neither different nor diverse, because it is promised in both the previous view and its own system to explain it in this way. If habits are not different from the Alaya consciousness, and do not appear as the diversity of good and non-good, then from the nature of the fruit being different, and the diversity of good and non-good, etc.

If someone asks: Sprouts are unreasonable, because it is unreasonable for different fruits to arise from non-different causes. Answer: There is no fault. As it is said in the Mahāyānasaṃgraha: If the predispositions are not different and not diverse, how can they be the cause of various different dharmas? For example, when cloth dyed with various colors of dyes does not appear in various colors, when it is placed in a container, the differences of various colors on the cloth will show many diverse forms. Similarly, the ālaya-vijñāna, which is perfumed by various predispositions, although it is not diverse when the predispositions exist, when the fruit manifests, like a container of dye, it manifests countless dharmas. This is an extremely subtle and profound dependent arising for the Mahāyāna. It should be understood in this way. So, are these predispositions present in the ālaya-vijñāna from the beginning, or are they newly perfumed? There are three ways of establishing predispositions: the nature of dharma abides, what was not there before arises, and both are desired. Regarding the way of establishing predispositions, the teachers of the Yogācāra school have three views. Which three? One is that it does not depend on the agent, but the nature of dharma abides; one is that the agent newly establishes what was not there before, or the agent nourishes what was previously established; and one is that the nature of dharma abides is nourished, and what was not there before is newly established. These three views are stated secretly, and they accuse each other of faults, and the refutation of these faults is explained in detail, and the first view is admitted to be reasonable. But here, we adopt the third view. That is, it can be divided into three types for analysis: uncontaminated seeds, seeds of homogeneous cause, and seeds of vipāka. Among them, the first is the lineage that exists by nature, so it is the nature of dharma that abides. As it is said in the Yogācārabhūmi: Among them, the lineage that exists by nature is the difference of the six faculties of the Bodhisattvas, that is, it is transmitted from one to another, has a beginningless time, and is obtained by the nature of dharma, that is how it is. Therefore, the two seeds of homogeneous cause and vipāka are, respectively, the good, non-good, and indeterminate that enter consciousness, together with the ālaya-vijñāna, and arise and cease simultaneously, so they will enter consciousness in the future.
