For arguments with a conventional aspect, it is necessary to respond from the ultimate aspect, i.e., arguments that have the ultimate as their reason, with the conventional aspect. Arguments with a conventional aspect are those that refute the ultimate by taking the conventional as the standard; arguments with an ultimate aspect are those that refute the conventional by taking the ultimate as the standard, hence it is so. If we were to illustrate these, what would they be like? There are two aspects to this: arguments and the final determination of the answer. The first aspect is: generally speaking, both types of arguments have both similar and dissimilar inferential signs, two of each, so they are determined to be four. Among these, the similar type is to posit the conventional as a sign, thereby inferring the conventional; and to posit the ultimate as a sign, thereby inferring the ultimate. The dissimilar type is to posit the conventional as a sign, thereby inferring the ultimate; and to posit the ultimate as a sign, thereby inferring the conventional. So, why are there said to be two? There is no contradiction. Because the two that posit the conventional as a sign, and the two that posit the ultimate as a sign, both have an ultimate aspect. Among these, the similar inferential sign of the conventional is: there is no need to cultivate the three paths, because the result of the two paths, the nirvana of hearers and solitary realizers, will not manifest, like that. The dissimilar type of the ultimate is: it is also possible not to cultivate the path, because there is nothing to be cultivated, like that. This sign is acknowledged in the ultimate, and through inference, what is not desired in the conventional is established, thereby establishing it. The dissimilar type of the conventional, like this kind of reverse pervasion inference is: because there is cultivation of the path in the conventional, therefore there is the nature of self and general characteristics in the ultimate. The similar type of the ultimate is: in the ultimate, the object of the intermediate peak is unreasonable, because there are no two objects in the ultimate, like that. Thus, among those explained in the commentary, the ninth, tenth, and twelfth are the similar type of the conventional, and the others are both the dissimilar types of the ultimate and the conventional, that is, both the forward and reverse aspects of inference, in order. The similar type of the ultimate, even if not grasped, is used to refute extreme views. The Clear Words says: Therefore, for arguments with conventional and ultimate aspects, etc., whoever refutes the other by taking each truth as a standard, and therefore it would become not omniscient,

The so-called "those who seek fault with such things" refers to the two types of fault-finding that are dissimilar in terms of the two truths. The second is: It is not correct to say that the ninth chapter of the Difficult Points Explained answers with both the two truths, the eleventh chapter divides the conventional truth into two, correct and incorrect, and that all the others answer with the conventional truth. This is because the way the ninth chapter answers with the two truths seems the same as the others. It is not the intention of the Difficult Points Explained to say that the tenth chapter answers with both the two truths, the twelfth chapter answers with the incorrect conventional truth, and that all the chapters except the first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth answer with the conventional truth. Therefore, for the two dissimilar types that have the gates of conventional and ultimate truth, one must answer as it appears in the scriptures, and for the two similar types, one must answer with the conventional truth itself and with the ultimate truth itself. This does not contradict what is said in the commentary, which considers that the dissimilar types of the two truths are more important in fault-finding. The third is the third explained by the commentary, which explains how to generate samadhi after eliminating. The third is: It should be generated. Where? In the samadhi of the peak. By whom? By bodhisattvas who desire the virtue of complete enlightenment for the sake of others. How? By first eliminating the wrong conceptions about the two truths, that is, starting from the path of accumulation, repeatedly eliminating, and through the gate of abandonment, for the meaning of the objects of the peak, the valid cognition that is free from the three, non-realization, wrong conception, and doubt, is generated correctly in all aspects. The term "in many ways" in the Clear Words indicates that the means of the two truths can be relied upon to answer endlessly. The Three Hundred Thousand says that many of the types of conceptions to be eliminated should be eliminated. The Difficult Points Explained says that there are many opponents such as the Great God and Vishnu. However, it is good to hold the connection as explained earlier, because it enters into the meaning of the word "many." By what means should those wrong conceptions be eliminated? By relying on the means of the two truths, being skilled in not saying that the two truths are the only object. The reason why it is necessary to eliminate them in this way is that for those with the gates of ultimate and conventional truth, one must answer in order with the conventional and ultimate truth.
