The opposites of the paths of non-seeing, cultivation, and no-more-learning, and the seven kinds of going astray in the objects, the first two have two each, and the others have one each. The nature is: the grasping thought that clings to these as my opposites. The antidote is: the mind and mental events that are present on the path of cultivation, in the state of arising, with the objects that are to be abandoned. The third has two: the nature of thought and the antidote. The first is: the basis of division and the aspect of division, which are the support of the opposite of grasping thought, are nine kinds. The reason for doing so is: because there are nine objects. Where among these does the mind not arise for the sake of unsurpassed enlightenment? That is, one who lacks a virtuous friend who shows the true instructions to oneself, and who is separated from faith and so on, which are the causes of generating the mind of enlightenment. If one practices the mother for a long time, as long as one lives, one will become practicing the mother, as the Bhagavan taught: From the first arising of the mind, take it closely. Not making the essence of enlightenment as something to be obtained, because there is no particularly excellent merit of the three wheels that are pure, with the Buddha as the object to be obtained. One should practice the mother until one abides in the essence of enlightenment. These two are taught by the determination of the path of accumulation. There are two kinds of Hinayana intention, of which the Hearer makes the intention to obtain that vehicle, because from the path of joining, it is almost certain that one is of the Hearer lineage. The Solitary Realizer makes the intention to obtain the vehicle of his fruit, because from the path of joining, it is certain that one is of the Solitary Realizer lineage. Because one does not separate the opportunity for other intentions, one should practice the mother. This sutra alone teaches the complete determination of the two paths of joining. Not making the intention to obtain perfect and complete enlightenment, because one does not practice the Prajnaparamita for the benefit of others. Because one does not abandon making the intention of all-knowing wisdom, one should practice the mother in the same way that the mind and mental events do not arise. This is taught by the determination of the path of seeing. Cultivation is: in the path of cultivation of the Hinayana, in order to obtain one's own nirvana, one cultivates by focusing on forms and so on as impermanent and so on. Because of cultivation, all-knowing wisdom

Then, can one attain omniscience? The Blessed One said: "It is not so, Subhuti." Thus it is said. Absence of meditation means: In order to re-explain the non-learning path of the Lesser Vehicle, by the very absence of such an object, one does not meditate in that way. Then what is it? Can one attain omniscience by not meditating? The Blessed One said: "It is not so." Thus it is said. The opposite of those who meditate and do not meditate is that there is neither meditation nor non-meditation, which means that in order to attain Nirvana, there is no objectification of impermanence, etc. Moreover, for that purpose, there is also no non-objectification, because. Then what is it? Even if one meditates, one has meditated, and even if one does not meditate, one has not meditated, can one attain omniscience? The Blessed One said: "It is not so." Petition, then what is it? Can one attain omniscience by neither meditating nor not meditating? The Blessed One said: "It is not so." Thus it is said. This is merely to refute extremes and cannot be combined with the path, although Jamyang Yeshe explains it this way, Chomral thinks it is reasonable to say that the first two belong to accumulation, as Chomral said. Here, in the words of the root text and the great commentary, the opposite of the two, meditation and non-meditation, seems to be one, not two, but even if it is two, it can be accepted, because it is clear in the sutra. Alternatively, it is thought that one can attain omniscience only by continuously meditating on equanimity on the path of learning, and that one can attain it only by not meditating on the path on the path of non-learning, and that the three, accumulating those two and preventing accumulation, want to attain omniscience, are made the object of speculation. In this case, the sutra shows the opposite aspects, which are made the reasonable side, as the object of speculation. The sutra also prevents the attainment of omniscience by those four sentences, and implicitly shows that meditating on the mixture of cessation and subsequent, intermittent and uninterrupted, is the cause of omniscience. This also changes the view of Nisnanga, and if the three views are made the object, it does not seem to be incompatible with the teacher's view. Sherdron says: "Thinking that one can attain omniscience by meditating on the object, therefore it is meditation, and thinking that one can attain it by not meditating, therefore it is absence of meditation, and both meditation and non-meditation, and thinking that one can attain it neither by meditating nor by not meditating, therefore it is neither of the two, and the opposite of those is the two and the Lesser Vehicle."
