The Madhyamikas believe that it exists, which pleases the gods. This prevents what you assume, that the path of seeing will not abandon it, or prevents the commitment that the path of seeing as you wish will not abandon it. But it is not that he thinks there is a path of seeing, like the great Bodhi. In the Clear Words it says: The cessation that contradicts the nature of the born and the unborn, and the non-movement of thoughts, is the very nature of Suchness, the ultimate truth of us Madhyamikas. Because you have not separated from those thoughts, you do not have the view of realizing the ultimate truth. Your path of seeing, with the power of clinging to conventional truth as ultimate truth, explains what is exhausted and what is produced. The second is to refute the views of the Realists, the second is to refute by commitment to internal contradiction. The chapter here expands, first extracting the root meaning and then stating what is to be explained, and the two parts of briefly showing the root meaning, explained in order. The second part has three points: extracting the root meaning and then stating what is to be explained; briefly showing the root meaning; and explaining it in detail with external commentary. The first point is: If the Madhyamika treatises promise to show that all dharmas are without inherent existence, but it is not so, if it is promised that forms and other dharmas truly exist, then the Blessed One, with the conceptual thoughts of afflictions and cognitive obscurations, completely, that is, without remainder, abandoning, this is a very wonderful place, that is, impossible, this is what the intermediate verses say. The second point is: Apart from the Madhyamikas, the Realists also believe that the dharmas of grasper, grasped, and self-awareness exist in ultimate truth, and proclaim that the Buddha has also exhausted the cognitive obscurations, to this, I, the Gentle Protector, consider it strange or a mockery, because of the commitment to contradiction. The third point is the third of refuting by commitment to internal contradiction, that is, explaining it in detail with external commentary, the chapter here expands, first thinking about the connection of the treatise. The third part has two points: the reason for the commitment to contradiction; the contradiction of the commitment itself. The first part has two points: thinking about the connection of the treatise; explaining the meaning of the words. The first point is: When showing internal contradictions to the Realists, what are the four yogi grounds related to? To this, the Mind-Only

The Svātantrika-Madhyamikas, although not realizing that phenomena are without inherent existence, believe that they can abandon the afflictions of the three realms by realizing the sixteen aspects of the Four Noble Truths, such as impermanence, in accordance with the two schools of realism. Therefore, if phenomena exist ultimately, it is contradictory to abandon the two obscurations. The mentioned afflictive obscuration is only a side note, intended to show the stages of yoga for abandoning it, and is merely an extension of the discussion. It is not intended to show a contradiction with the view that one has already abandoned the afflictive obscuration. Therefore, the three stages of yoga for abandoning the cognitive obscuration are the main points. Alternatively, it can also be said that it shows a contradiction in the commitment to abandoning the afflictive obscuration, which will be explained later. In this regard, according to the two schools of realism, since they believe that the apprehended and the apprehender are real, they cannot completely abandon the cognitive obscuration with their view. According to the Mind-Only school, since they believe that the apprehended and the apprehender are not real, they can abandon some of the gross cognitive obscurations of attachment to the apprehended and the apprehender by familiarizing themselves with their view. However, since they cannot abandon attachment to self-awareness, they cannot completely abandon the cognitive obscuration. Therefore, their commitment is contradictory. According to the Madhyamikas, since they do not even believe that self-awareness is real, they can abandon all cognitive obscurations by familiarizing themselves with their view. Moreover, according to this teacher's view, the four ways of abandoning the afflictive obscuration are all the same, while in the way of abandoning the cognitive obscuration, there are three types of attachment: to the apprehended, to the apprehender, and to non-dual self-awareness. The first two ways of abandoning are common with the Mind-Only school, while the last way of abandoning is considered unique to the Madhyamikas, and therefore it is arranged in this way. The common point is that, for the apprehended and the apprehender, it is similar in that it only prevents the object of attachment to other entities, thereby preventing the subject. Therefore, the four stages mentioned here are mainly the ways in which a Madhyamika individual, as the basis, generates them in their continuum in order to abandon the two obscurations. The previously shown connection and the following content all attribute the meaning of these texts to the view of the realists, and thus state that it is impossible to abandon the obscurations. Therefore, it is shown that there is attachment to the apprehended in the first stage of yoga, attachment to the apprehender in the second stage, and attachment to self-awareness in the third stage. This does not mean that, like the realists and the Mind-Only school, the attachment arises from acknowledging that the apprehended, the apprehender, and self-awareness exist in reality. Rather, it should be understood as merely the arising of manifest attachment in the continuum of the individual, for example
