If the time of karma's maturation is uncertain, then, even if there are many lifetimes between the projection and the accomplishment, it is the life of another dependent arising, not the life of the dependent arising of the projector, so there is no fault. In the Abhidharmasamuccaya, it is said that there are two causes for projection and accomplishment, namely distant cause and near cause. Therefore, it is reasonable that there will be many lifetimes between the projector and the accomplishment of the projected, and that there will be no interruption between the accomplisher and the middle. In this way, the number of maturations is uncertain, because some karmas are said to mature after many eons. Saying this is not carefully considered. Sixth, are these cause-and-effect limbs in the same place or in different places? Neither is certain. How is this so? There are three places, namely the place of death, the place of birth, and the place other than that. Among them, the basis of the lower place can accumulate the karma of being born in that place and the upper place, while the basis of the upper place cannot accumulate the karma of being born in the lower place. In one's own place, one can also accumulate the karma of being born in that place. The first limb and the consciousness at the time of cause belong to the place where the karma is accumulated, because ignorance is the retinue of afflicted mind and the consciousness is the alaya-consciousness, and the consciousness of those two bases is also of that place. If a child in the desire realm who is free from attachment accumulates the karma of being born in the upper realm, then since there is no affliction of the desire realm, does his ignorance not belong to the desire realm? To this, the authors of the Abhidharmakosa think that because there are afflictions of the upper realm in his continuum, any affliction of the upper realm will cause the accumulation of karma. But here, we admit afflicted mind, which cannot be destroyed by the path of a child, and belongs to the desire realm, so there is no fault. If the ignorance of another place causes the karma of another place, then why can't the basis of the upper place also accumulate the karma of being born in the lower place? Because that basis does not have all the afflictions of being born in the lower place, and has obtained a special basis separated by different places, it does not respect the accumulation of inferior karma of the lower place. Action belongs to the place of birth, because the karma of another place cannot project the aggregates of another place. The consciousness at the time of result and the seven that accompany it also belong only to the place of birth. Regarding craving and grasping, from the Don gsal it is said, "Whichever place of birth it is, the afflictions that cause it to be manifestly accomplished are also necessarily of that place." This is saying that from the lower place to the upper

Although it is reasonable to say that the afflictions of the higher realms are the cause of arising in the lower realms, it is inconsistent with the general view of the Abhidharma masters and logically untenable that the afflictions of the lower realms manifest in the basis of rebirth in the higher realms. Therefore, it is not appropriate to be born from the higher realms to the lower realms. However, existence can arise from the higher realms to both the happy and unhappy realms of the desire realm, but it belongs to the place of birth. To be born in the lower realms is merely a latent tendency of non-virtue at that time. If there is no throwing (of karma) upon seeing the truth, then it is unreasonable for a non-returner who cultivates the practice to be born in the Pure Abodes, because it is necessary to be born there with uncontaminated concentration, but one has not attained the uncontaminated state as an ordinary being and has not accumulated (merit) as a noble being. If one asks this, then the karma that causes the great increase of fruit exists from the beginning, and by cultivating it, it is transformed into the cause of being born in the Pure Abodes, so there is no fault, as stated in the Guhyartha. It should be understood that the accumulation of karma for the noble ones with attachment to be born in the desire realm also occurs during the time of ordinary beings. According to the Treasury of Knowledge, if one has not abandoned the afflictions that cause birth in a particular realm, it seems that even the noble ones will be thrown by the karma that arises from them. This principle of equal realms is not explained in detail in the Indian commentaries and remains within the general category. Therefore, after careful examination with intelligence, the views of the wise are definitively stated. The seventh is the practice of arising and reversing, which has already been explained. The eighth is to be skilled in entering and leaving samsara, and by taking and abandoning it, to pass beyond sorrow without taking or abandoning. The realists consider such twelve limbs to be the nature of things that are composed of arising and ceasing. The nature of this, being devoid of the eight extremes of elaboration, comes from the treatises of the noble Nagarjuna and his spiritual sons, but it is not written here because even the mere name seems to cause fear. Therefore, other such things are not mentioned here for the time being. The third is the extensive explanation of the Dharma of Union Peak, the third is the explanation of the Union Peak of the Path of Cultivation. The chapter headings here are extensive, and first is the basis of the Path of Cultivation, which is the explanation of the Samadhi of Thögal, etc. The third has three: the basis of the Path of Cultivation, the objects to be abandoned, and the qualities of the basis. The first has three, the first is, thus the peak of the Path of Seeing.
