It is too extreme to be a cause. There is no difference in other aspects, and if other differentiated aspects are examined, it cannot be established because it is the same as what is to be proven. Neither of the two arises, because for each one it becomes a fault of expression, and since the two are contradictory, it is impossible for it to exist. It also does not arise from no cause, because even on a crow, the bright feathers of a peacock may appear, and in fire, the cold nature of water may appear, etc., which is too extreme. Or, even on a peacock, those feathers may not appear, and coldness may not appear in water, because if it arises without a cause, it must either be present in all places and times, or be completely absent. Third, if from the ultimate point of view, existence, non-existence, both, and neither do not arise, then the result truth does not arise is pervasive, like the son of a barren woman. These things also, from the ultimate point of view, existence, non-existence, both, and neither do not arise. In the "Seventy Stanzas on Emptiness," it says: "Existence does not arise because of existence, non-existence does not arise because of non-existence, it is neither existence nor non-existence because the dharmas do not agree, there is no abiding or cessation because there is no arising." This also establishes the dharma of all aspects of that syllogism. Fourth, whatever is interdependent is without inherent existence in the ultimate sense, like an illusion. All dharmas are also interdependent. The sutra says: "Whatever arises dependently, those have no inherent existence at all." For these reasons, the way to refute and establish with each one's own intention, and whether or not the consequence can lead to the self-nature by reductio ad absurdum, etc., can be examined, but because there are too many words, I am afraid, so I have not written it. The second is the second of that result, refuting the great Bodhi established by conceptual thought. The second part is divided into two parts: refuting the view of those who assert entities, and establishing the view of those who assert emptiness. The first part is divided into two parts: not observing the pervasive cause, and refuting by contradictory commitments. The first part is divided into three parts, the first part is: for those who assert entities, that consciousness is not non-erroneous, or not capable of becoming great Bodhi, it is said in the middle with a dash. Then what kind of consciousness do they think is the knowledge of cessation and non-arising? For those who assert entities, the defilements that have already arisen are exhausted by the path, and the consciousness that thinks that those defilements are exhausted in my continuum is the knowledge of exhaustion, and the defilements that are about to arise are prevented from arising by the path.
