If it is said according to the previous or later moment. If it is produced by the previous moment, then each previous moment, i.e., a single one, is not reasonable to attain enlightenment. The reason is that for each or a single mind that has become the previous mind of bodhicitta, all the meanings spoken of as the means to accomplish the enlightenment of the Buddha, such as omniscience, and the direct realization between moments, do not appear. This is pervasive, because to attain Buddhahood, it is necessary to have all those collections of causes. Furthermore, if only the previous moment produces it, then the later moments will become meaningless. Similarly, apply it to the later moment as well. According to the second case, it is attained by the simultaneous occurrence of many or the sequential occurrence of many. According to the first case, it is not possible to attain enlightenment through the multitude of minds that occur simultaneously, which manifest all the means to accomplish the desired meaning, because such a thing is impossible. Because the scriptures say that sentient beings each have a stream of consciousness of the same kind. This is pervasive, because bodhicitta is mental consciousness, and if many occur simultaneously, then many mental consciousnesses of the same kind will arise simultaneously. According to the second case, the realization from mindfulness and closeness, etc., which accomplish the supreme enlightenment of the Buddha, up to non-mixing, that is, the bodhicitta that becomes knowledge, its own nature is the many moments of mind that occur sequentially, which are the previous and later moments of mind, gathered together at the same time, is also not the cause of enlightenment, because there is no connection between them, that is, there is no collection, because as soon as the later one arises, the former one disappears without following. Therefore, the former refers to the gathering of many born at the same time, and this refers to the gathering of many born in sequence in time, but when the latter ones exist, the former ones remain without disintegrating. It is not the many that arise and cease sequentially, otherwise, it is unreasonable to say that it is not true, because you yourself also admit that enlightenment can be attained through the many that arise and cease sequentially, and if it cannot be attained through that, then there is no other way to attain it. Because that is because there is no mutual connection. In the "Collected Commentary," it says: Those are also not a collection, because those are sequentially occurring, and because they are not long-lasting, they are not together. So it is said.

It is understood by welcoming (the question). The second part has three points. The first point is: If single sequential moments, and many simultaneous and sequential arising, and many (causes) gathered simultaneously cannot be attained, then striving with the assumption that enlightenment cannot be attained is incorrect, therefore this question is answered. The second part has two points: the actual meaning, and other symbolic ways. The first point is: A single moment of lamp light, single sequential moments, and simultaneous gatherings of before and after, although they do not burn trees, but depending on the previous sequence, they will eventually burn completely. This is the way of the example of a lamp, that is, through reason. Even through the generation of Bodhicitta, single sequential moments, and without relying on these, enlightenment cannot be attained, but by studying the ten bhumis previously mentioned as one's own object, it should be known that enlightenment will arise, this is guided from within. This is also because the Thus-Gone One used examples to answer wise people, as it is easier to understand. The essence of grain and ghee, meets the first spark. The essence does not burn, without it it will not burn. The last flame meets the essence, Without the last flame, the essence will not burn. The initial mind does not touch the supreme enlightenment, Without it, it cannot touch it. The final mind does not attain the peaceful enlightenment, Without it, it cannot attain it. Through both example and meaning, it is shown that non-dependent sequential moments cannot be a cause. A drop of water, between the beginning and the end of the vase, gradually fills it completely with small amounts. Similarly, the initial mind is also the supreme cause of enlightenment, gradually, the white qualities are perfected, and one becomes a Buddha. Therefore, depending on (conditions), all sequential moments are said to be causes. The reason for using grain and ghee as an example is that the sequence of burning is easy to understand, while others are difficult to understand because they are fast. The second point is, even if single sequential moments of Bodhicitta cannot attain (enlightenment), how can we know that the example and meaning of gradually attaining (enlightenment) are not contradictory? Following after the occasion of the eight profound dharmas. Shanti says that one should understand that enlightenment will be attained through the example of a lamp. That is, where does enlightenment manifest the eight profound dharmas? Where do the eight dharmas explain the connection with birth? The third part has two points: the actual meaning, and what it symbolizes.
