It should not be done that way. Otherwise, if it is said that the second moment exists, it is unreasonable. Because the object to be burned and the burner are simultaneous, cause and effect are not allowed. The second case is: because it cannot burn without relying on the burner, therefore, relying on the flame is the nature of the burner, and the wood is the nature of the object to be burned. What nature is it? Unexamined, alone feeling pleasant, it is merely the conventional truth. What time is it? When the power to burn trees is complete, the second moment with special abilities, and the third etc. exist. By what is it made capable? Relying on the first moment of the special collection of both light and wood meeting as the cause, the first moment makes it capable. If it becomes capable by relying on the first moment, what is it? Because the power of the two is connected as cause and effect, if it does not rely on the cause, the ability of the effect will become causeless. Then, what is the reason that the previous and subsequent moments rely on the ability to burn? It is reasonable that the appearance of dependent origination, the nature or power of this self-nature of dependent origination, is established in this way. For example, if you ask why fire can burn but water cannot, the answer is that it is produced from its own cause. If you argue, what is it to be produced from your own cause? This is the same as the nature of things themselves. If the later lamp is born, the previous lamps do not remain, because the second etc. and the first etc. are the same as each incomparable one, so the later lamps cannot burn either. If the later lamps are born, the previous lamps are destroyed without a reason for destruction, there are also objects to be burned and burners, because the cause of the flame and the destruction of the fruit tree appear simultaneously like the height and height of the balance. Therefore, the second moment etc. are born and the wood is burned at the same time. Or, combine the two causes and effects and the two burners. The second case is: the front and back do not burn without relying, and burn by relying, therefore, from the moment of the lamp to not burning, like the example of the butter lamp, it is to generate the mind.

It should be known that one can attain enlightenment by relying on it. For example, the two moments of a flame, one should know that they are the cause of jointly burning a tree. This is because of emphasizing and mainly relying on what appears. How is it known? Just as the first moment of a flame has less energy, and the next moment generates energy, in order to accomplish the unsurpassed enlightenment, as the object of accomplishment, such as mindfulness, etc., a slightly limited appearance of consciousness arises, relying on the first moment of generating the mind of enlightenment, which has less energy. Just like the later moment of a flame, because it generates a later moment of the mind of enlightenment that has energy, which appears with a slightly lesser meaning than the previous moment, and is different from the previous moment, with more excellent meaning power and non-mixture, etc. Secondly, someone asks: Can the example of the butter lamp also represent other meanings? As mentioned earlier, this example not only generates the mind of enlightenment, but also should comprehend the eight profound natures. Relying solely on it can be shown here without needing other examples, but it does not prevent other examples from representing it. The root of this is the outline of the sutra such as "arising", and the way of the example of the butter lamp is the answer of "the mind is the former", etc. Although the meanings are different, the teacher combines them into one, because one example can represent two meanings, in order to make the explanation easier. Therefore, the old translation says "for lineage", and the Rong translation of Ornament of Realization says "should comprehend", so it should be done accordingly. Regarding the way of representing the eight profoundnesses, some say that in order to represent the first profoundness, eight names are established, for example, one person walks with a stick and eight people walk, although the people behind do not have sticks, it is also said that they walk with sticks, this statement is unreasonable. The eight profoundnesses are also profound through the gate of the two truths, and this example also shows that it is impossible in meaning, but it can be burned in name. The second is the usual meaning, that is, proclaiming the true signs of non-retrogression on the path of practice. The second part has three points, the first point is: Where do the eight profound dharmas that previously only appeared in name exist as the established dharma?
