Compassion that does not focus on any of the three, such as those with whom one has a connection. How is that? It is characterized by its nature of focusing on the uncontrived expanse of reality. Regarding this, it is not reasonable to think that, like the countless realms of reality, the merit of realizing it also arises as countless, as a similar cause. Thus, even though merit is a single entity, not establishing many names is because hearing that children do not benefit from the path of meditation, wouldn't it be better to engage in it? It is said that it was taught with compassion and encouragement, and that is its similar cause. The third is that, as stated, the countless things that arise in each of the nine paths of meditation are considered to be distinct because of their necessity, even though they are a single entity. Because the results are three distinct entities, it does not necessarily follow that the cause, the path of meditation, is limited to nine. There are two parts to the second: debate and response. There are three parts to the first. The first is that, as mentioned above, the general meaning or letters are not observed as distinct, and all phenomena are explained as the emptiness beyond expression. So, since emptiness itself is the nature of being beyond expression, merely being accustomed to it would pervade the impossibility of achieving excellence, and therefore the path of meditation would not produce any practice or realization of abandonment and remedy. It is taught to address the doubts of those with inferior minds. The second is that, in the inexpressible nature of phenomena, it is pervasive that what is to be abandoned cannot diminish and what is to be remedied cannot increase. The path of meditation is also inexpressible, so what nine things to be abandoned would diminish and what nine remedies would be attained by the path called meditation? That is, they cannot be attained. It is said: "Bhagavan, if there is no increase or decrease in what cannot be expressed, then there will also be no increase or decrease in the perfection of generosity." So it is said. The third is that, by the path of meditation of the Great Vehicle, what is the nature of the unfavorable side to be abandoned by meditation, and what is the purity of the favorable side of the path of meditation to be attained? That is, it is not abandoned or attained. In truth, because it cannot be expressed as one, as other, as both self and other, or as neither. In the inexpressible, the unfavorable side

Because there is a pervasion that does not allow the arising of antidotes and what is to be abandoned, therefore, through cultivation, there is no way to make it particularly excellent. The sign is established, because in the ultimate sense, the object of the path of cultivation that is desired to appear as the self-nature of the Dharma, is by its very nature devoid of essence. It cannot be allowed, because one does not do any abandoning or obtaining with respect to what is to be abandoned and the antidote, if it is not like this, then one should not establish cultivation as the antidote to what is to be abandoned, is that so? Second, divided into two: the actual answer and refuting the dispute about it. First, divided into three, the first is: the way of not abandoning and obtaining is not like that, the reason is as follows. Second, divided into two: showing that it increases and decreases in appearance, showing that there is no increase or decrease in nature. The first is: just as Bodhi accomplishes the wishes of those to be tamed in name, so this path of cultivation dedicates and contemplates all the roots of virtue to perfect Bodhi, therefore, in name, it accomplishes the desired meaning, that is, the abandonment decreases and the antidote increases, therefore it has the cause of attaining Buddhahood. Subhuti, it is so, it is so, for the unspeakable meaning, there is no increase or complete decrease. Subhuti, if one practices the great Mother of skillful means, and cultivates the Mother, and strives in the Mother, then one thinks: I am completely increased by the Mother, and even the perfection of generosity is completely increased, one does not think like that. However, he thinks: this is just a name, just like this, from the perfection of generosity to the Mother, this is just a name, he thinks like this, and when he practices the perfection of generosity, those intentions and those aspirations and those roots of virtue, are all completely dedicated to the unsurpassed perfect Bodhi. And, it is also completely dedicated as the unsurpassed perfect Bodhi. Thus it is said. The Ornament of Realization's Manifestation says that the first sutra shows the answer of intention in the ultimate sense. The second is: what is Bodhi like? The nature of Bodhi is: it is the nature of the Suchness of all dharmas, not only that, but the path of cultivation is also established as the nature of Suchness, because it depends on the way of existence, therefore it is the intention that there is no increase or decrease of generosity etc., because it is like the Suchness of all dharmas.
