It also applies to both. In what place does one engage in thinking, etc.? Through "definite hand" and so on, the meaning of definitely seeing with the three paths of seeing and meditation. In short, in these three, one should familiarize oneself here with how one has previously experienced the aspects of the object of focus. The path of meditation, as an object of the path of meditation, is feasible because there are prior and subsequent moments. Therefore, "also" and "again" indicate continuousness, and the nature of the path of meditation is shown by thought, measurement, determination, and discrimination. Just as it is said in the Great Vehicle Sutra, I should abide in this way. Just as it is said in the Sutra how to closely abide, I should learn in this way. Just as it is said in the Sutra, I should learn in this way. Just as it is said in the Sutra, I should accomplish in this way, thinking thus, one will think, measure, and definitely discriminate these profound places that are in accordance with the Sutra, because the three words "do" indicate the three objects of focus. The third part has two: the actual division and the refutation of arguments. The first part has three, the first is: how many kinds of numerical aspects does that basis of distinction have? The second is: the path of meditation is divided into four. It is considered to have nine aspects, this is the nature of the division. The fundamental divisions, small, medium, large, etc., each further divided into small of small, etc., because of this division, there are nine different numerical aspects, this is the reason for the division. This division into nine is also because it is continuous in two countless eons. Shantideva said that the fundamental word "also" includes the nine things to be abandoned, therefore it seems that this is in the Indian manuscript. Nyi Nang Loter considers it good to also quote that treatise for what should be abandoned. Here, the scriptures of what should be abandoned and the nine antidotes are combined, and it is considered that the ninth thing to be abandoned is the power of the last antidote. The third is: one should know that this is the path of meditation. Where? In the nine aspects of the path of meditation mentioned earlier. The reason is: based on the desire realm, and up to the peak of existence, these nine are all antidotes to what is to be abandoned by meditation, continuously arising in two countless eons. So, are the peak of existence and the desire realm not clear, and is the distraction great, so they cannot be the basis of the Mahayana path of meditation? Bodhisattvas rely on the power of great skillful means that transforms even faults into virtues, therefore

It is not. How to divide it into nine? From the division of the antidotes to the conceptual thoughts to be abandoned in meditation, the nine paths of meditation are divided according to the number as the antidotes to the nine things to be abandoned. "According to the number" means that it is unreasonable to combine the nine paths of meditation and the nine grounds in order, because the second and tenth grounds are not considered in order, and it is not certain at the summit of existence. In the "Sherdrön," although the nine grounds are explained as the basis of what is to be abandoned, it is not the meaning of the commentary on the "Ornament for Clear Realization" and these two. From which gate does one make the antidote to conceptual thought? From the gate of conceptual thought of the characteristics of all phenomena being emptiness. Or, since they are emptiness in the ultimate sense, it is not permissible to divide them. If you say so, in the ultimate sense, it is from the gate of the characteristics of emptiness, even if it is so, but in conventional terms, there is the function of abandoning and counteracting, so it is divided in that respect. The way to divide the antidotes to the nine things to be abandoned according to the number is: the root divisions of the conceptual thoughts to be abandoned in meditation, large, medium, and small, each with nine different distinctions of large, medium, and small, so the antidotes to these things to be abandoned, the paths of meditation, small, medium, and large, are also each with nine different distinctions of small, medium, and large, that is how it is. There are two points to this. The debate about the order of abandonment and antidote is: since the antidote arises from the small order, it is unreasonable to prevent the abandonment from the large order, because the small abandonment does not need a large antidote, and the small antidote cannot be competent for the large abandonment. For example, a small stone can be thrown away with a finger, but a mountain is not like that. If you say that the difficulty of abandonment is established as large and small, it is okay to say that, but here it is to establish the thickness of the stain as small and large, and for that establishment, that order is not unreasonable, because the washerman first washes away the coarse dirt on the clothes, and then washes away the fine dirt, and the coarse part of the extremely large darkness can also be eliminated by a small light, but some small and subtle darkness needs a large light like sunlight to eliminate, and the example established by valid cognition can eliminate that debate. That is also because the white side is strong and the black side is weak. The debate about the nature of what is to be abandoned is: if there is also afflictive obscuration in what is to be abandoned in meditation, why is it only divided into the antidote to conceptual thought, and not into the antidote to afflictive obscuration? This is refuting and observing not
