The arising of steadfast bodhicitta, the subsequent knowledge of abandoning a part and all of the body, as well as abandoning self and life, for the sake of the meaning of the Dharma that reveals omniscience and so on, is: For the sake of Dharma, one also abandons life, and diligently strives in yoga. Thus. The second is: Bodhisattvas abiding on the path of seeing are the characteristics of non-retrogression. Here, what is the sign of non-retrogression? Although it appears as grasper and grasped, it has the aspect of not being attached to it, therefore it is encompassed by the mind arising after pure equipoise, therefore the fruit of worldly equipoise itself being consistent with the object, the sixteen expressions of body and speech that become the object of realization of other individuals. So, if it is said that such sixteen moments, the wisdom of equipoise itself is the sign, is there a contradiction? There is no fault. Because when these sixteen moments, which include forbearance and knowledge, are perfectly attained, the perception of form and so on will disappear, and because the subsequent expressions between abandoning life for the sake of Dharma arise, therefore the cause is named by the name of the effect. If you ask how the sixteen forbearances and knowledges are, then it is said that for each of the four truths, there are four moments of object-possessors, that is how it is. This is the explanation of the last two lines. Thus, the sixteen activities of the subsequent, are named approximately by the names of the sixteen wisdoms of equipoise, among the three dharmas spoken of as signs, the reason for naming is: among similarity and relation, relation is taken as the reason, that is, because it is the fruit of equipoise. The necessity of naming is: in order to know that the expressions of body and speech of the noble yogis are consistent with the realization of equipoise in all aspects. If you ask whether these two are necessarily consistent, as it is said in the Vimalakīrti Nirdeśa Sūtra: Whose nature is free from attachment and aversion, yet shows as if attached to those with attachment, and shows anger to the angry in order to subdue the violent, to that supreme place of enlightenment, I now bow down and pay homage. Thus, except for the need to subdue some sentient beings with attachment and aversion, or intentionally show inconsistency, everything else is certain. What harms the entity is: the subsequent having the name of sixteen wisdoms.

If it is not like that, saying it is a subsequent attainment sign through imputation, but saying it is a literal Samahita (Skt. Samāhita, 等持,专注,入定) real sign, then how can the Samahita of the path of seeing be a characteristic or sign that makes others believe that someone is a path of seeing and will not regress? Because it is the real Samahita of the path of seeing. There is pervasion, because the moments of forbearance and wisdom in the continuum of the noble yogi are known by each yogi himself, and others cannot know. Just as the sixteen forbearance and wisdom that harm reality are said to be signs, one should not say that the literal is reality, because when the sixteen forbearance and wisdom are said to be signs, it is the occasion to argue whether it is literal or not. Here, some people think that even the subsequent attainment is the wisdom of the yogi, because others cannot know it, so it should refer to the body and speech produced by the subsequent attainment, but this view is unreasonable, because this teacher is a Yogacara Madhyamaka, and does not admit things that are not wisdom, so it should refer to the present consciousness that appears as the subsequent body and speech. In the Ornament of Manifestation, it is said: The sixteen moments of the path of seeing are the characteristics of the non-returning path of seeing, the meaning is brief, and then, if you ask whether the moments that exist in the continuum of the yogi and are known by each individual are the characteristics that make others believe, because whatever is said, those who truly realize the moments of forbearance and wisdom, with the aspect of not clinging to the appearance of the grasper and the grasped, the pure worldling, held by the subsequent mind, the reversal of the perception of form, etc., is an object that can be understood by others, and can produce a result that is consistent with oneself and the subsequent attainment, because the terminology of the yogis, except for the need to subdue sentient beings, is only consistent in everything. Therefore, these will become characteristics. So it is said. Here, it is said that the sixteen forbearance and wisdom of realizing white Dharma are pure worldly Dharmas, and it is also explained there that the Shravakas, etc., are consistent with realization at all times, and in the Clear Words, the answers to the arguments about the results that are consistent with the text itself for the needs of imputation, etc., are all wrong. Third, the nature of the sign of the existing Dharma is debated.
