The basis of power is the place of power like a village relying on a city, and the realm of power is like a town, the basis for the entry and exit of many beings, similarly, for the entry and exit of the six consciousnesses, it is indicated by villages and so on. Attachment from self to seer is spoken of in its own words. The story of the king and ministers in the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita is to represent self and self-grasping, and the complete distinction because of the connection with self only for self is the self-grasping represented by the story of the ministers, therefore it is four, as stated in Adornment Light. Therefore, preventing the four powers and so on is in the stage of subsequent wisdom, showing the way to prevent the fruition of contaminated things, thus showing its function, and it is not to show that preventing these four is the essence of subsequent wisdom, and to regard the abandonment and antidote of attachment to these four as warfare. As it says in Sunlight: Preventing the combination of abandonment, antidote, and warfare, because subsequent wisdom has been shown before, and after that, in this situation, preventing fruition only by its own nature is four ways, thus connecting and combining the sutra that prevents these four. Similarly, it also appears in both Adornment Light and Commentary, and in the One Hundred and Fifty Verses, warfare is also combined first. Shantideva also said that if there is a battle, then prevention can be obtained, and prevention is liberation from suffering. And what is that? It is the variation of consciousness that appears as body, place, and enjoyment. It also says: If the thoughts of self and self-possession cease, it is liberation. Here, from the signs of the irreversible of the path of seeing, from the respective aspects of the four noble truths, derived from the chapter on cessation, a slight examination was made of the category of the objects to be abandoned, such as power. Here, there are two slight examinations of the objects to be abandoned, such as power: the essence of the objects to be abandoned, and the way of cessation in which realm. The first has four: power, the basis of power, the realm of power, and attachment to self. The first has three: their respective essences, the reason for the fixed number, and the boundaries of the last three. The first is, among the twenty-two faculties, the six from eye to mind are focused on the respective five objects and the combined six objects, the two of male and female are the essence and difference of those two, the life force is the continuous existence of aggregates from birth to death, and feeling pleasure.

The five feelings of pleasure, joy, suffering, displeasure, and equanimity: the first two give rise to desire, the next two give rise to hatred, and the last gives rise to ignorance, hence they are defiled. The five aspects from faith to wisdom are worldly purifications, and the last three are the attainment of the latter two and nirvana without remainder, as well as the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by seeing and what is to be abandoned by meditation, and the mastery of dwelling in bliss in this life, and are established as faculties by these meanings. As it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: 'Because they have power over their own objects and all objects, they are called six faculties. Because they have power over male and female, the body faculty has male and female. Because they are the basis for all defilements and purifications, life, feelings, and faith are established as five faculties. Because they have power to attain higher and higher attainments, they are called the faculty of complete knowledge, the faculty of complete knowledge, and the faculty endowed with complete knowledge.' Thus. Among them, the first fourteen are called the faculties of defilement, and the last eight are called the faculties of purification. However, this is not absolute, otherwise the mind and the three feelings would not have a path to liberation. The five faculties of faith and so on are mostly explained as worldly, but they are not absolute, for the reasons mentioned earlier. Among these faculties, six are imputed, and the rest are real. The two of male and female are part of the body faculty, life is the stage of the continuum of the aggregates, and the last three are part of faith and so on, so there is no separate entity. Secondly, from the perspective of the basis for entering samsara, and being newly born there, and abiding, and freely enjoying the fruits of happiness and suffering, six, two, one, and five are established. In nirvana, too, in the same way, from the perspective of the four freedoms, they are determined as five, one, and one. As it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: 'Also, the faculties are different in the basis of entering, and in the time of birth, dwelling, and enjoyment, and in the fourteen such reversals, the faculties are different in other positions.' Thus. Thirdly, as it says in the Treasury of Knowledge: 'The path of seeing, meditation, and no more learning has nine, three are without outflows, and three are without defilement.' Thus, it is established on the path of liberation, and following the view that only explains it as without outflows, it is the same in the Sunlight Commentary. That is, when the five of faith and so on of the path of seeing, pleasure, joy, equanimity, mind, and nine without outflows arise, not understanding is established as the faculty of complete knowledge, because these nine arise simultaneously.
