It is manifested by the excellent body, and it is not obtained by going from one continuum to another and passing on; it is peaceful from the beginning and cannot be taken away, it is not an object that can be fully enjoyed by consciousness; because it is the nature of the Dharmadhatu, it will not be exhausted; because there is no cause of birth that produces one and many, so it is indicated by these. The so-called "cannot be taken away" is appropriately translated as "pure and not to be grasped." The second is the second of the extensive explanations of the aspects of the base consciousness, that is, the explanation of the fifteen aspects based on the path truth. The second part has three: the dependent path, the detailed distinction of the dependent aspects, and the summary of the meaning by number. The first part has two: the actual distinction and the marginal examination. The first is: the path truth of the base consciousness is the basis of distinction. The nature of distinction is: three aspects. The reason for distinguishing is: as the antidote to the obscuration of afflictions, there is one path of the Hinayana without outflows; as the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge, there are two distinctions: the path of cultivation with outflows and the path of seeing without outflows. If it is said that the aspects of the base consciousness are explained, then explaining the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge is irrelevant, because the Hearers do not realize the nature of freedom from elaboration, then, with the omniscient nature, not only the Hearers, but also the direct realization of the Pratyekabuddhas is included, therefore, for the abandonment of these Pratyekabuddhas, explaining the antidote to the aspect of grasping the obscuration of knowledge is without fault. The second is: establishing the first four as the antidote to the obscuration of afflictions, and the remaining eleven as the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge; in the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge, establishing the first five as with outflows and the last six as without outflows; and sequentially establishing them as the path of cultivation and the path of seeing; and the reason for not distinguishing the antidote to the obscuration of afflictions, but dividing the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge into two; and examining the basis and the respective nature of these three paths, these five points need to be understood. Among them, the first point is: the fifteen kinds mentioned in the Sutra from "no maker" to "non-regression" are explained in the treatise as the aspects of the path truth of the base consciousness. The noble ones determined that the first four are the uncontaminated antidote to the obscuration of afflictions, and the rest are the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge, and followed after that.

And also did so following the Pramāṇavārttika and the teacher (Dharmakīrti) and his followers. This is because they considered that the accumulation and application paths are not true paths, and that the path of no more learning is not an antidote to obscurations, so they did not classify them. Showing the antidotes to the two obscurations in that way is also because the four, such as no maker, appear as aspects of the selflessness of the person, and these four are the reasoning, establishment, and ascertainment of the path, and the grasping of the self of the person is the cause of afflictive obscurations. The sixteen aspects, such as impermanence, are also divided as antidotes to afflictive obscurations, so the first four are antidotes to afflictive obscurations. The rest are shown as antidotes to cognitive obscurations, because these aspects of the path must be shown as antidotes to obscurations, and the antidotes to afflictive obscurations have already been shown, so there is no need. The second is, in the Heart Essence, it says, "Because it is similar to dreams, etc., it is dreams, etc." Thus, the five, such as dreams, symbolize the post-meditation pure worldly realization that appears without an object. Therefore, it symbolizes the realization of meditative equipoise without those appearances of abandonment and realization of the six, such as without defilements and without pervasive afflictions, so it is established as uncontaminated. The third is, the path of seeing is uninterrupted in meditative equipoise, and the path of meditation arises by alternating with post-meditation manifestation due to the long time, so it is established as the first uncontaminated and the second contaminated. The fourth is, because cognitive obscurations are difficult to abandon, and afflictive obscurations are not so, it is established as both contaminated and uncontaminated and one uncontaminated. The fifth is, although the noble ones did not make a clear distinction for the person, the teacher said that it was related to the two, the Hearers and the Solitary Realizers, considering that this was the time to show the truth of the path in the form of the basis of knowledge among the three wisdoms. Regarding the nature of the path, in the Sunlight Commentary, the Pramāṇavārttika, and the Ornament Commentary, the first path has no clear distinction, and the latter two are explained in the path of seeing and the path of meditation. The Clear Words says, "Establishing the latter two only in the path of meditation seems to be in accordance with the Abhisamayālaṃkāra in the translation of this treatise, but it is not in accordance with the two great commentators, so it should be understood as the path of seeing and the path of meditation as done by Dromtönpa's translation and Sherjung." In the first path, it is difficult to realize, so the "uncontaminated path of the Hearers, etc." is related to the Hearers. The Clear Words says, "In the case of the omniscient wisdom, the Hearers."
