The distinction lies in this. The second part has two sections: the statement of commitment and its refutation. The first part is: Some say that describing this as 'having' or 'not having' is in line with the Sravaka schools, but in the Mahayana's own system, it is considered a special samadhi. As it says in the Ten Grounds Sutra: 'Bodhisattvas, abiding in the samadhi of cessation, completely cut off the three feelings and three concepts, without manifest fabrication and wavering mental activity, all feelings, concepts, mind, touch, and attention will be cut off.' Furthermore, the Mother Sutra also says it is a transcendent samadhi, and it is said to be equipoise and realization of the wisdom dharmakaya. Therefore, the Mahayana noble ones' non-conceptual wisdom exists.' They say so. The second part has two sections: showing that this is not the thought of the noble brothers, and that it is unreasonable to hold a different view from this. The first part is: Whether the noble brothers understand the essence of this is another matter. The Vaibhashika monk Vasumitra thinks that in this state, there is an indistinct mind consciousness. This is refuted in the Compendium of the Mahayana, and it is also said in the Treatise on the Accomplishment of Action: 'Some think that it is a state with mind, for example, when the monk Vasumitra asks: 'According to whose view, the cessation attainment is without mind, that fault exists; but according to my view, the cessation attainment itself is with mind.'' Here, the source of the sutra is also cited, that 'In the cessation attainment, the bodily fabrications have not ceased, the senses have not changed, and consciousness has not separated from the body.' They will come bringing these statements. So, what do they think consciousness is at that time? Some say that it is mind consciousness. Then, didn't the Bhagavan say that, relying on mind and dharmas, consciousness arises, and the touch of the three fully assembled, and the feeling, concept, and mind that arise together with it? If there is consciousness at that time, how are the three not fully assembled? Even if the three are assembled, how can there be no touch? Even if there is touch, how can it be said that concept and feeling are ceased, that is, there is no feeling and concept?

etc., when entering this, it is extensively prohibited that the mind consciousness is in a state of virtue, non-virtue, or non-indication. In conclusion, therefore, you, the debater, have not understood the meaning of the scriptures as they are, so in the state of cessation attainment, etc., thinking that consciousness exists together with the mind is biased. Furthermore, if this is a non-conceptual samadhi, then there must be mind consciousness. If so, in the "Thirty Verses," it says, "The arising of mind consciousness is constant." Generally speaking, except for the non-ideation being, the two kinds of samadhi, mindless sleep, and fainting, consciousness does not arise in these five situations, because these five situations have been specifically excluded, so it cannot be said to be mind consciousness. Furthermore, in order to prove that the Shravaka school, which does not accept the six consciousnesses, has the Alaya consciousness, it is said in the "Compendium": "Why is it that if there is no Alaya consciousness, mindless samadhi is impossible?" This is because the consciousness of entering the non-ideation attainment or entering the cessation attainment can only be separated from the body, and will not be inseparable, so if it is only death, how could the Bhagavan say, 'That consciousness is not separated from the body?'", because if there is no Alaya consciousness, even the afflicted mind is not there, so the statement that entering these two samadhis will lead to death is unreasonable, because it is enough to answer that cessation attainment itself is mind consciousness, so it is with mind. Therefore, venerable sir, you said that when entering cessation attainment, the Alaya consciousness says it is with mind, but there is not a single statement that other consciousnesses say it is with mind. In this way, the classification of cessation attainment by the Mahayana masters seems to be entirely the treatises of Asanga and his followers, and there it does not appear that cessation attainment is explained as being established on non-conceptuality. If in the commentaries of the "Compendium of Mahayana" and the "Collection of Topics," non-conceptuality is established as non-conceptual wisdom because of the cessation of speculation, then non-ideation and cessation of feeling would also become like that, which has already been refuted. Moreover, in the "Compendium," it is also said: "Cessation attainment should be said to be without outflows, because it is separated from afflictions, and it is not corresponding."
