Etc. are the accumulation by their own nature. Approaching accumulation is having the ability to generate fruits. The first answer is: Subhuti said: Venerable Shariputra, as the Blessed One said all dharmas are like dreams, then there will be no accumulation or decrease from that. What is the reason for that? Because in the dream, any accumulation or decrease is not observed. However, if one discriminates after waking up, then there will also be accumulation or decrease. That is to say, the meaning is that all dharmas are like dreams because it is said to be untrue. It is intended that there is no increase or decrease in the ultimate sense. If it is without nature like a dream, then there is no increase or decrease observable in its dharma. In the conventional sense, the example is not established, because if one engages in actions in a dream and rejoices after waking up, there will be increase or decrease. What is the reason for that? Because in the conventional sense, the pervasion is also not established. These show that the relationship between actions and their results is merely arising from convention in the conventional sense. In both harming and destroying, however, after waking up, etc., although this is said to be Shariputra asking Subhuti, in "Sunlight" and "Eight Thousand Stanzas," it is made in the manner of Subhuti speaking, and it also appears that way in "Eight Thousand Stanzas." The second objection is: Subhuti said: Killing during the day and killing in a dream, thinking like this about that: I killed that, it is good that I killed, after waking up, discriminating, Venerable Shariputra, what do you say about that? That is to say. Its meaning is in "Sunlight": What do you say about that action, is completely asking about the nature of true and untrue, although there is contradictory antidote, but because discrimination follows, it will become ultimate, therefore it is debated in the sense of showing the truth. That is to say, the meaning is that above, nourished by subsequent wisdom, it is shown that the actions in the dream have increase and decrease, then it is asked, killing during the day is a true action From page 301 to 326. And killing in a dream is an untrue action, what do you say? The implicit meaning is that the actions in the dream have contradictory antidotes, that is, they are harmed by correct reasoning, but that will become existing in the ultimate sense. The aspect of subsequent wisdom clinging to the ultimate object

This is about the content of debating with the intervention of conceptualization. If it is said that if the venerable Subhūti himself previously nourished with his mind-reading abilities, thereby showing the existence of karma, then it is irrelevant for him to argue that way again, is it? Although it is true, because there is doubt in one's own commitment, the intervener questions, and if such doubts arise, how would you answer? Thus he asked Śāriputra, and showed that as his own answer. Or, in the Commentary on Valid Cognition, it says: "What do you (referring to Subhūti) say" is asking about truth and untruth, even if the opponent's side has been understood, but because the subsequent intervention of conceptualization arises, this is a debate conducted to show the ultimate truth. Thus it is said, so even if the venerable Subhūti himself understands the antidote or answer to that accusation, asking Śāriputra whether that karma is true or untrue, what is it like, is because previously nourishing with conceptualization, thereby showing the existence of accumulation and decrease of karma, in order to show that the connection of that karmic result is the ultimate truth, just as it is. That is also because previously intervening with subsequent conceptualization, thereby showing the existence of decrease and increase of karma, in order to reaffirm that the connection of karmic results is shown to arise from convention, so he asked Śāriputra and had him give a corresponding answer. The second answer is: The Blessed One said, Venerable Subhūti, karma does not arise without an object of focus, karma only arises with an object of focus. Mind does not arise without an object of focus, mind only arises with an object of focus. Subhūti said: Venerable Śāriputra, it is just so. Karma does not arise without an object of focus, mind does not arise without an object of focus. Karma arises with an object of focus, not without an object of focus. Mind arises with an object of focus, not without an object of focus. Thus it is said. The meaning is, as the Sunlight Commentary says: Because it is promised that karma arises from having an object of focus, and it is prevented that karma arises from not having an object of focus, so it is said again that it arises from convention. Just like this, because it is shown that karma is created by the mind of manifest attachment, it is also said that the connection of karmic results arises from convention. In this way, through the answers of these two debates, the doubts about the connection of karmic results that were previously shown to be without karma are cut off, which is the intention of the Sunlight Commentary, the Eight Thousand Verse Commentary, and the Commentary on Valid Cognition, etc.
