That is to strive for, that is, to do mainly. How can one know? Just as the moment of a flame, the previous moment has less energy, and the next moment has more energy, in order to achieve unsurpassed bodhi, as the object of achievement, like mindfulness, a limited amount of manifestation of consciousness, relying on the previous moment of bodhicitta, which has less energy, just like the next moment of a flame, it is more superior than the previous moment, which has less meaning manifested, manifesting consciousness of unmixed meaning, etc., the next moment of bodhicitta arises with great energy. Second, someone asks: Can the example of the butter lamp also represent other meanings? Answer: Just as mentioned earlier, this example can not only generate bodhicitta, but also comprehend the eight profound dharmata. It can be expressed solely by relying on it, without looking at other examples, but it does not prevent other examples from expressing it. The root here is the summary of the sutras such as "arising", and the "example of the butter lamp" etc. is the answer to "the mind is the previous moment" etc., therefore, even if the meanings are not the same, the teacher also makes it into one chapter, because one example can express two meanings, in order to make the explanation easier. Therefore, the old translation says "for the lineage", and the Rong translation of the Ornament of Realization says "should be comprehended" is a good translation, and should be done that way. Regarding the way to express the eight profoundnesses, some people say that in order to express the first profoundness, the name of eight is established, for example, one who holds a staff and eight people walk, and those behind do not have a staff, but it is also said that the staff holder walks, this statement is unreasonable. The eight profoundnesses are also profound from the perspective of the two truths, and this example also shows that it is impossible in meaning, but it can be burned in name. The second is the usual meaning, that is, to proclaim the true signs of the non-returning of the practitioner on the path of cultivation. The second part has three points. The first point is: Which object does the eight profound dharmas, which previously only appeared in name, exist as the object of reliance? The answer is to explain this. The necessity is: in order to proclaim the nature and signs of the bodhisattvas who abide on the path of cultivation and do not regress. The second is: at the end of the eight,

Furthermore, regarding the conditioned and the unconditioned, object and subject, and the profoundness of conduct, they are, in order, two, one, two, and three. Among them, the sixth is the nature of conduct, the seventh is its aspect, and the eighth is its pervasiveness. The third has two: the nature of profoundness, and the way that realizing it becomes a sign. First, regarding the profoundness of arising or dependent origination: Even each moment of the preceding and subsequent bodhicitta does not generate enlightenment, and the nature of these preceding and subsequent moments is without essence, that is, even without relying on them, enlightenment is not generated, even if it is not so, by meditating on this bodhicitta, one can generate the supreme meaning to be realized and attained, the unsurpassed enlightenment, that is to say, even the initial bodhicitta does not manifest and attain great enlightenment, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, similarly, without relying on it, and without generating the subsequent mind, also without relying on it, O Bhagavan, manifesting and attaining great enlightenment, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, this profound dependent origination is truly wonderful! Thus it is. Regarding the profoundness of cessation, even in conventional terms, all things are already ceased from the very moment they arise from their own cause, so they cannot be refuted again, and since they are without self-nature by nature, there is no cessation in ultimate truth, but there is cessation even in conventional truth, that is to say, in any case, is any mind that arises of the nature of cessation? Subhuti replied: O Bhagavan, it is not of the nature of cessation. The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, what do you think, will anything that is of the nature of cessation cease? He replied: O Bhagavan, it is not so. Thus it is. In short, the past and future mind is not the object of mind, and the present is not suitable for cessation because it is separated from one and many, but it appears as cessation. Regarding the profoundness of suchness, at all stages of the path, even if one is accustomed to the suchness of wisdom, one will not manifest that suchness as self-benefit with compassion, that is to say, will suchness abide as it is? He replied: O Bhagavan, suchness will abide as it is. The Bhagavan said: Subhuti, what do you think
