Since it is said in the scriptures that one has become a vessel capable of generating the path and the ground, it is not necessarily limited to beings of the desire realm and humans. Second, the support of the mind: Regarding this, according to the explanation in the Compendium, there exists the characteristic of being meditation-born, thus it also relies on the mind of meditative absorption. According to the explanation in the Treasury, it relies solely on the desire realm. Although the Abhidharma holds this view, according to the Mahayana, a great path like the accumulation path mostly relies on the actual basis of the fourth dhyana, and these have already been mentioned in the oral instructions. Secondly, from the Treasury: "Arising from hearing, thinking, and meditation are the three actions." Thus, it speaks of the actions of the three doors and hearing and thinking themselves. In the Compendium: "What is the path of accumulation? It is the morality of ordinary beings, guarding the doors of the senses, knowing moderation in food, not sleeping during the upper and lower parts of the night but striving in yoga, delighting in abiding in mindfulness, and also any other virtuous deeds that have become causes, as well as the wisdom arising from hearing, thinking, and meditation. By familiarizing oneself with these, one will come to directly realize the truths and become a vessel for the place of liberation." Thus, it speaks of the existence of meditation-born qualities and says that it is suitable to be a vessel for counteracting the direct realization of the truths and for directly abandoning what is to be abandoned. In the Sunlight Treatise: "It should be known that all of these are of the nature of hearing and thinking, because they are the cause for initially entering the path that is being taught." Thus, it appears according to the Treasury, but in the Clear Words, the noble one seems to have cited the reason for not accepting meditation-born qualities, but it would be better if one considered that it has not become the main part of meditation-born qualities. In the Clear Words: "To consider the special accumulation path and the part in harmony with liberation as one is to be known as mistaken." In this treatise, the first three bodhicittas are said to be suitable vessels for understanding the path of practice and the ground, and the first of the fifteen applications is placed in the four means of gathering activities, and so on, thus speaking of the accumulation path and the part in harmony with liberation. Third, the general signs of the accumulation path are mentioned in the commentary on the Treasury: "Whoever, when hearing words that speak of the faults of samsara, selflessness, and the qualities of nirvana, experiences goosebumps and sheds tears, it should be known that they have the root of virtue in accordance with the part of liberation, just as in summer, after seedlings have grown, in the midst of the barley fields,

It is like knowing that there is fire. That's it. Therefore, even if a trace of virtue arising from the thought of renunciation arises in the mind, one will attain a portion of the path of accumulation. The special signs of the path of accumulation are as stated in the *Nyi snang*: What are the signs that indicate it? The signs of this being in accordance with the aspect of liberation are threefold, namely: not being discouraged, which is the characteristic of not being alarmed; not being afraid, which is the characteristic of not being frightened; and having no regret in mind, which is the characteristic of not becoming afraid. As it is said, not being afraid of the profound meaning, etc. Why is it called being in accordance with the aspect of liberation? The *Nyi snang* says: Here, liberation is the distinction of separation, and because it benefits the aspect of liberation, it is called being in accordance with the aspect of liberation. As it is said. The *Clear Words* says: Abandoning the grossest afflictions that throw one into the eight states of unfreedom, etc., warmth, etc., is explained as liberation. The second explanation of the meaning of being in accordance with liberation is the meaning of the limbs, that is, for the sake of the ornament that combines with the text, the being to be tamed should, at the time of the path of accumulation, cultivate the five objects of faith, etc., in their own mind, and become wise, etc. The second has two parts: the essence and the divisions. Of the first part, there are two. The first is: From the beginning of generating the great Bodhicitta, taking it closely, without separating from the mind of all-knowing, giving charity, etc., up to the state of all-knowing, meditating and not making it into a sign. What is said is summarized as "without signs," etc. The second is: Desire. Where? Liberation, etc. Where? The wisdom that realizes emptiness, with the aspect of wisdom that focuses on phenomena as being without signs, from the perfections of giving, etc., up to all-knowing, the practitioner of the path of accumulation is skilled in cultivating them in their own mind. Those Bodhisattvas who have not yet attained warmth may focus on sentient beings, but their focus on the benefit of others is weak, so they cannot exchange self and others, so in their own mind. As it is said. At what time? From the aspect to this, that is, here. The second has three parts, the first of which is: What is it that is skilled in cultivating in the mind? In order to indicate that, these two intermediate phrases are spoken. The second has two parts: division from the perspective of the essence and the mind. The first is: The path of accumulation has five aspects, from faith to wisdom. These are also the Buddhas of the three times, etc.
