These then become the nature of being devoid of the characteristics of desire. Thus it is said. Desire and non-desire, and so forth, with hatred and ignorance, and the absence of these two, in sequence, by emptiness, clinging to the dissimilar aspects and antidotes, are dissimilar antidotes. Those great Bodhisattvas who develop faith in this profound Prajñāpāramitā, those become the nature of being completely devoid of desire and non-desire. Thus it is said. The word "devoid" is connected to all four, the first three are devoid of afflictive obscurations, and the last is devoid of cognitive obscurations. Second, the nature of the application of the path knowledge has five aspects. That is, in ultimate truth, there is no donning of armor for the sake of sentient beings, but in conventional truth, it is difficult to don armor to liberate all beings from suffering. Any great Bodhisattva who vows, "I shall completely liberate all sentient beings from suffering," even if he makes such a vow, but for him, neither sentient beings nor the characteristics of sentient beings are observed, those are engaging in difficult deeds. Thus it is said. The characteristic of not falling into other Śrāvakayāna or Pratyekabuddhayāna, or abiding solely in Mahāyāna by nature, is certainty. That great Bodhisattva who vows, "I shall completely liberate all sentient beings from suffering," and thus initiates the vow, has no situation or opportunity to fall into the ground of a Śrāvaka or a Pratyekabuddha. Thus it is said. The three great supreme things to be accomplished from countless eons, striving to accomplish for the sake of these, is the purpose. The great Bodhisattva has donned armor in order to completely liberate all sentient beings from suffering, and for the sake of wisdom with omniscience. Thus it is said. Understanding that the object to be meditated upon, the person who meditates, and the Dharma of meditation are unobservable, is unobservability. In this profound Prajñāpāramitā, there is no complete accomplishment of what is to be meditated upon, who is the meditator, or the Dharma by which one meditates. Thus it is said. From Prajñāpāramitā to omniscience, all clinging to the appearance of reality is completely prevented, this is the prevention of clinging to appearance. Some great Bodhisattvas do not develop clinging to appearance in this profound Prajñāpāramitā, that can be completely regarded as a non-returning great Bodhisattva. Thus it is said. The word "nature" is at the end of all sentences. Third, the nature of the application of omniscience has seven aspects. That is, omniscience and path knowledge.

That which is gathered by... is that which is focused upon, with the distinctions of objects, the aspects of the ground and path, and suchness as the object. One should examine this profound Mother Prajñāpāramitā with a mind devoted to great enlightenment and omniscience. Thus it is said. The grasping of practice with worldly attachment, that is, clinging to the complete severance, thinking, "This is the self to be grasped"; and conversely, clinging to the complete distinction, thinking, "This is not something to be grasped," included by "etc."; turning back from these clingings, and clinging to form up to omniscience, thereby showing or realizing the absence of extremes of grasping and non-grasping, is non-conformity. This Dharma is not taught for the sake of grasping form, nor is it taught for the sake of not grasping. Thus it is said. Knowing that there is no obstruction of the Dharma of wisdom in all things such as form, is non-obstruction. This Dharma has no obstruction to anything, and no obstruction to form. Thus it is said. Because the object of knowledge is not grasped and the knower is not held, realizing that there is no support is being without a basis. This Dharma possesses no basis, because the basis of form is not apprehended. Thus it is said. When "without a basis" is said in the root, the word "that" from the pure possession refers to the Dharma being taught, that is, this Dharma is without a basis, without going, and without arising. The Dharma being explained is spoken of in relation to form, etc. Realizing that there is no going or coming because of suchness itself is being without going. Just as the suchness of the Tathāgata has no future and no past, so too the suchness of the Venerable Subhūti has no future and no past. Thus it is said. Because form, etc., is emptiness without inherent existence, realizing that there is no arising is being without arising. The Venerable Subhūti is not born following form, not born following the suchness of form, not born following anything other than the suchness of form. Thus it is said. When fame spreads and one becomes a teacher of the Dharma, there is no place, no going, and no arising, that is, saying that there is no form, etc., in this place is the nature of being without a place. Here, saying "no going" is the nature of being without going. Here, saying "no arising" is the nature of being without arising. Thus, saying "no" here, saying "no going" here, saying "no arising" from here, these three are explained as the meaning of being without a basis, etc. Things and non-things.
