Because there is no affliction and no complete purification, the Dharma is taught, thereby truly and thoroughly clarifying. Thus it is said. Explaining that all dharmas are like the sky, and entering without effort, thereby naturally accomplishing the benefit of sentient beings, this is the sixth. It is to be the refuge for ignorant sentient beings who have no refuge, that is, form is the nature of the sky, thus teaching the Dharma to sentient beings. Thus it is said. Because the Dharma is taught in the form of the wisdom of the path, for the sake of benefiting others, it will definitely appear in the three vehicles, and for the sake of benefiting oneself, its fruit will not appear directly, this is called the seventh. All dharmas are of unborn nature, and they do not go beyond that nature. Thus it is said. The third, in terms of omniscience, there is only one act of refuge. What is refuge, and whose refuge is it? In the "Sunlight Sutra" it says: Who is the Bodhisattva said to be the refuge of the world? Thus it is said, Bodhisattvas and Buddhas are the refuge of sentient beings. What does one do to become the refuge of sentient beings? Although it is said that in terms of omniscience, all dharmas are the generation of the mind, etc., but all dharmas, in terms of omniscience, show that they do not go beyond their own nature, and in terms of the meaning of approaching accomplishment, it is the last, all dharmas are of the nature of form, and they do not go beyond that nature. Thus it is said, from all dharmas are of the nature of form, and they do not go beyond that nature. Thus it is said that all dharmas are of the nature of complete enlightenment, and they do not go beyond that nature. Thus it is said. Shantipa said that the last is the act of benefiting beings, so-called benefiting beings is to obtain the fruit, that is, to do that. Thus it is said. In this way, the first two of the eighteen are said to be the actions of Bodhisattvas, and the remaining nine are said to be the actions of Buddhas. However, the ultimate Buddha and the eleven temporary actions are also possessed by Bodhisattvas. The fourth is the fourth that is explained in detail from the perspective of classification, the fourth is the chapter on the sixteen aspects of self-nature. The fourth has three, the first is: with the eleven aspects of action, what is the self-nature of the combinations that have been known to be able to generate the perfection of benefiting others? The three middle verses explain the characteristics of self-nature. The second is: the nine verses explain the meaning of each self-nature, and the last three verses summarize the meaning and express the way.

has been declared. The so-called "end of the six branches" refers to the end of the latter twelve branches in the commentary. To this, one should understand it as such. Where is it? In the fourth characteristic, which is the characteristic of self-nature. Where is it? In the sixteen kinds of being devoid of afflictions, etc. The reason is: with the nature of the sixteen self-natures of combination, as a symbol of the self-nature of the three combinations, because it symbolizes a symbol or example that has other meanings. When determining that the self-nature of the three combinations is like this through the ways of self-nature four, five, and seven, it refers to the fact that the object to be determined appears in the mind as if it were a characteristic with other meanings. In other translations, there is also the saying "because it symbolizes an example," which is because the meanings of the two words symbol and example are the same. Like "rain of fame," it shows that these two are merely nominal and not their true meaning. The third is: the fourth characteristic is considered to be the characteristic of self-nature. Where is it? As in the root text. The reason is: although in the sixteen self-natures, the self-nature of knowing the combination of the three, there is no characteristic different from oneself, but because it symbolizes like a symbol or example with that characteristic, so it is like that. Some explain that there is no characteristic different from combination, and combination itself cannot be a characteristic, so it symbolizes like having a characteristic, but the former statement is correct. The second way of symbolizing is: as it is, that is, without error. How are the sixteen? As they exist between self-nature four and seven. Where are these? Among these three, first, in the self-nature of the combination of knowing all things, there are four kinds of being devoid. That is, because the self-nature of afflictions such as desire manifests as emptiness, so it is affliction. Those great Bodhisattvas, because they have completely cleared away desire, will transform into the nature of being devoid. And so on. Desire, etc., is its sign, that is, the result, because the evil circumstances of body, speech, and mind are empty, so it is a sign. Those great Bodhisattvas will transform into the nature of being devoid of the signs of desire. And so on. Desire, etc., is its characteristic, that is, the cause, not truly attending to the reality of things, clinging to purity, and clinging to aggregates, etc., as real and being empty, so it is a characteristic. Those great Bodhisattvas
