Thus it is said. To truly understand the mind that is gathered and scattered, as being without destruction, or as being free from desire due to the cessation of what is abandoned through meditation, and as having all contaminated aggregates ceased, thus attaining cessation, and as having what is abandoned through seeing ceased, thus attaining the abandonment of abandonment, to fully understand the nature of the unconditioned, and to know the aspect of inexhaustibility, is that the Thus-Gone One knows those sentient beings' minds, truly and completely, just as they are, in terms of the aspects of solitude, freedom from desire, cessation, and abandonment. Thus it is said. To know the minds of ordinary beings, which are associated with desire, and with anger and ignorance, etc., as being of the nature of non-elaboration, is that the Thus-Gone One truly and completely knows, just as they are, that the minds of those sentient beings that are associated with desire are called minds associated with desire. Thus it is said. What is included by the word "etc." in the root is that the noble ones know minds that are free from desire, free from anger, and free from ignorance, etc., as being non-elaborate, that is, they truly and completely know, just as they are, that a mind free from desire is called a mind free from desire. Thus it is said. To know the mind as vast by the very nature of the realm of phenomena is that the Thus-Gone One, relying on this profound Mother, truly and completely knows, just as they are, that the minds of other sentient beings and other individuals are called vast minds. Thus it is said. From here to the fourteenth, the reason for speaking of two sentient beings and two individuals is the distinction between the worldly and the transcendent. This method of quoting sutras for these two will also apply to the following sections. Because of pervasive action, the mind is great, or the meaning of the mind becoming great is equality, that is, to know that all minds are equal in ultimate truth as being without self, and in conventional truth as being like illusion, as the basis for obtaining qualities, is that the Thus-Gone One, relying on this Mother, as before, truly and completely knows, just as they are, that the mind has become great. Thus it is said. Because the basis of the object of entry is not determined separately, it cannot be measured by number or measure, therefore, to know the mind as immeasurable is that the Thus-Gone One, relying on this Mother, as before, truly and completely knows, just as they are, that the mind is immeasurable.

Thoroughly knows and understands. Thus it is. By having no analogy, or by emptiness of its own nature, knowing thus of the consciousness or mind that cannot be indicated, the Thus-Gone One, relying on this mother, as before, thoroughly knows and understands, just as it is, the mind that cannot be indicated. Thus it is. By having no self-nature, or by being invisible to the five eyes of the Thus-Gone One, knowing thus of the invisible mind, the Thus-Gone One, relying on this mother, as before, thoroughly knows and understands, just as it is, the invisible mind. Thus it is. These two are spoken from the door of not focusing on the object and the object-possessor. Knowing or the mind, with movement and so forth, the views of gathering, scattering, contracting, and the views of body and life being one or different, etc., relying on the five aggregates like illusions, by the clinging that arises from them, there is no establishment, knowing thus, the Thus-Gone One, relying on this mother, also knows thus the movement, gathering, scattering, and contracting of the minds of other sentient beings and other persons, whatever scattering or gathering or scattering or contracting of the minds of sentient beings arises and occurs, all of those depend on form, depend on feeling, perception, formations, etc., and consciousness, and will arise, thoroughly knows and understands. In such an extensive explanation, it is explained that four views are known. Here, adding movement etc. to the noble ones, is because the fourteen views of the Mind-Only school, which is neither affirmation nor negation, are not grasped. Here, extrapolating from the statement of the fourteen characteristics of the base consciousness, "movement etc.", an examination of the fourteen views that are not predicted. This marginal examination has four parts: the nature of the views, the way the four minds are combined with affirmation and negation, to whom they belong, and the explanation of the words. First, in the Root Verses on the Middle Way, it says: "Whatever is past or future, and the views of permanence etc., Nirvana and the later limit, all are based on the former limit." Thus, there are four that rely on the former limit, four that rely on the later limit, and four that rely on Nirvana, totaling twelve, and the view that body and life are one and the view that the two are different, totaling fourteen. The first of these is, self and
