Not abandoning all the benefits of land and sentient beings, acting accordingly, and possessing the blessings of the Sugata. Thus it is said. The third is the third of the preliminary practices of joining, which is the section on explaining the characteristics of knowable objects, first generally explaining the characteristics of knowledge, distinctions, etc., without combining them with the treatises. The third has two parts: the general meaning and the meaning of the branches. The first has three parts: the establishment of characteristics and what they represent, the way of knowing the characteristics in advance, and the indication of its boundaries. The first has two parts: the indication of other systems, and the determination of the direction of the key points. The first has two parts: establishing the system and refuting it. The first has two parts: the summarizer and the system of the ancients. The first is: Kumārashrī Nare: The characteristic of knowledge is the conforming dharma, the characteristic of action is the following, the characteristic of difference is the way of reversing, and the fourth is the measure of the sign. Among them, when arising in one's own continuum and knowing the union, it is called the three knowledges, and when establishing it in another's continuum, it is called the great being. Sherjung says: "The aspects of the three omniscient ones previously mentioned that are present in the sixteen moments based on the truths of suffering, etc., are what represent the union through their realization." Thus, the meaning of the characteristic of knowledge, and when the three omniscient ones themselves arise purely in the sixteen moments based on the four truths in general, they represent the union through difference, thus the meaning of the characteristic of difference, and because of that, the difference in the ability to act without incomplete causes changes in the second moment, so acting represents the union, that is, the second moment of the characteristic of difference, becoming the difference in the ability to act with all causes complete, is the meaning of the characteristic of action, and if there is a difference in action, then the difference in result is accomplished, so that also represents the union. Thus, what is represented by the difference in result, which is caused by the difference in action or activity, is explained as the meaning of the nature of reality, but the way in which it is represented is not indicated. The second is: The wise ones of the past did not represent the unaccomplished union with these characteristics, but rather some of the qualities of its power as what is represented, and some as the characteristic, thereby establishing the twenty or five unions as the basis for the arising of the Buddha.

Or, taking "showing the world to him" as the object to be signified, and generating the realization of his three wisdoms, this should be regarded as the definition. Therefore, saying that the sixteen wisdoms are the definition of the three stages is because it is considered that generating it is the definition, so the made dharma is named by the name of the making dharma. That is, in the sutra it says: "This mother generates the ten powers of the Tathagata, and relying on it, knows the world as imperishable, therefore this mother generates the Tathagata, and shows the world to the Tathagata." Therefore, the mother is the combination, that is, the basis. Generating the Tathagata and showing it to him is the object to be signified. Generating the ten powers and knowing the world as imperishable, it is said in the sutra that it relies on it, this is the definition. Mentioning the Tathagata is because it is considered that the wisdom is the place of becoming a Buddha. The way of interpreting the latter three definitions will be explained in the chapter of our own system. Second, the first view is unreasonable, because if the characteristic of wisdom is taken as a sign to prove the nature of combination, then no matter where it is proved to exist, the characteristic of wisdom at the place of becoming a Buddha is not necessarily universal. Moreover, there is no omniscience on the path of learning, so the three wisdoms cannot be established as a dharma. If it is considered to be the combination of the three wisdoms, it is also unreasonable, because if that is the case, then is it proving that the nature of the combination is the nature of all natures, or is it proving that it precedes all natures? If it is the former, then it contradicts the admission that the generation of combination is known through definition. If it is the latter, then the practitioner of combination as a subject, when it exists, the generation of combination has already been established, so it is meaningless to speculate that it generates combination. Therefore, here the root of error lies in showing the three differences of wisdom as the knower and the last definition, so that it can be understood. The second view is also unreasonable, because the three wisdoms in the characteristic of wisdom mentioned here do not refer to the three wisdoms that were previously generally shown in the chapter of aspects, with the sixteen truths such as impermanence as objects, but refer to the three wisdoms that are said when knowing the forty-eight objects such as the appearance of the Tathagata, so although the names of the three wisdoms are the same, the way of knowing is different, so it is unreasonable to explain only one of them. Moreover, the basic wisdom of the teacher is not mentioned as a distinguishing feature.
