There are many realms of the world, such as eighty kotis and the realm of earth, and the six realms. As it appears in the sutras with the two reversed, it also appears in those who possess great power to destroy the harm of sunlight. The supreme faculties such as faith, which are sharp, and those that are not supreme, such as dull and mediocre, etc., and the paths that lead to all existence and peace, the paths that are in accordance with what is definitely the right path and what is not, and the paths that are definitely wrong, and the samadhis of the four meditations, the eight liberations, and those with investigation, etc., the completely afflicted tasting of the four formless realms and the nine successive abidings, and the purified aspect of not focusing on that, like a lion's leap or sudden transcendence entering or rising, and remembering the many past lives of oneself and others, and seeing with the divine eye the death, transmigration, and birth of sentient beings in the present and future, and knowing the exhaustion of defilements, either partially or completely, from the Shravakas to the Buddhas, is the aspect of the power of knowledge. The aspect of the power of knowledge is the end of all. These also overcome all unfavorable factors, and because they are not deceived by these, they are powers. The second is the second of the distinctions of qualities, which is the explanation of the four fearlessnesses. The second is, the four aspects of fearlessness. Among the four, the fearlessness of vowing to perfect realization is: "In the midst of the assembly, I am the Buddha, knowing all that is to be known without exception," thus the Buddha himself vows, that is, promises. The fearlessness of perfect abandonment is: the Buddha himself vows that the defilements, that is, the obscurations, are exhausted without exception, these two are based on self-benefit. The fearlessness of the obstructing dharmas is: stating that the obscurations such as desire are obstacles to the three vehicles, and the fearlessness of the path of definite emergence is: with the path of the wisdom of all-knowingness, etc., the path of wisdom, definitely emerging from samsara and the inferior vehicle, and excellently teaching, in that assembly there is no opponent who is in accordance with the Dharma, therefore it is one aspect of fearlessness, these two are based on benefiting others. The statement "there is no opponent" is also at the end of the previous three. Likewise, it is discouragement.

Because of the absence [of fear], there is no fear. In the sutra, the order of these four appears in that way, but the teacher makes the second the fourth. These are also from the sutra: 'Amazing! I have manifestly and completely awakened to these dharmas.' If one makes such a vow, then here, concerning my saying, 'I have not manifestly awakened to these dharmas,' whether it be a śrāmaṇa or a brahmin, a god or a demon, a Brahmā or anyone else, in the world, opposing with dharma, such a cause I do not truly see. Here, because I do not truly see that cause, I abide having attained happiness, having attained fearlessness, and having attained no dread, and I vow to the position of the supreme bull. In the assembly, I roar the lion's roar. The wheel of Brahmā in the world, whether it be a śrāmaṇa or a brahmin, a god or a demon or a Brahmā or anyone else, with dharma, cannot be turned in the world, but I shall turn it thoroughly.' This is the first sutra. The second is: 'Amazing! I have exhausted the outflows.' If one makes such a vow, then concerning that, the śrāmaṇas, etc., will say: 'These outflows have not been completely exhausted.' The third sutra is: 'Whatever I have taught as obstructing dharmas, if one relies on them, they will not become obstructing dharmas; such a place does not exist.' Here, the śrāmaṇas, etc., will say this to me. The fourth sutra is: 'The noble path that I have taught as definitely leading out, if one practices it, it will not definitely lead out for the sake of completely ending suffering; such a place does not exist.' Here also, the śrāmaṇas, etc., will say to me: 'Even if you truly practice it, suffering will not be completely ended.' Among them, the śrāmaṇas and brahmins are those who boast of their wisdom. The gods and demons are those who are endowed with the perfection of divine eye and knowledge of others' minds, etc. Brahmā is the one who has great power and magical abilities. Therefore, because they have great pride, they are mentioned. By the power of attaining happiness without the body's hairs standing on end or shrinking back, etc., one vows to the position of the wise bull, because the activity of the body is pure. By the power of attaining fearlessness without shrinking back or inferiority in speech, etc., one roars like a lion, because the activity of speech is pure.
