. Arguments should be avoided. The first point is that both the Vaibhashika and Mahayana schools consider it to be a non-associated formation. However, the Vaibhashika school believes it to be substantially existent, while the Sutra school and above consider it to be nominally existent. As it is said, "That is also a nominally existent, and it should be understood that it is not substantially existent." Such a view is the difference. The second point is divided into two parts: stating the commitment and refuting it. The first point is that some say that saying it is non-associated is to comply with the Sravaka school, but the Mahayana school itself considers it to be a special samadhi. As it is said in the "Ten Wheels of Ksitigarbha Sutra": "Bodhisattvas abide in the samadhi of cessation, completely cutting off the three feelings and three perceptions, without manifest actions and wavering mental activities, feelings, perceptions, mind, touch, and attention are all cut off." And, in the Mother Sutra, it is also said to be a transcendent samadhi, said to be absorption, and said to be the realization of the wisdom Dharmakaya. Therefore, the Mahayana noble ones' is non-discriminating wisdom." They say so. The second point is divided into two parts: showing that this is not the view of the noble brothers, and that it is unreasonable to think of it differently. The first point is, whether the noble brothers understand this nature is another matter. The Vaibhashika monk Friend claims that in this case, the mind consciousness is not obvious. This is refuted in the "Compendium of the Great Vehicle", and it is also said in the Karma Siddhi that "Some consider it to be a situation with mind, for example, when the monk Friend fully asks, 'According to whose view, the Nirodha-samapatti is without mind, that fault is there; according to my view, the Nirodha-samapatti is with mind itself.'" Here, the source of the sutra also comes with the statement that in the Nirodha-samapatti, the physical formations have not stopped, the senses have not changed, and the consciousness has not left the body. What do those people think consciousness is at that time? Some say it is mind consciousness. If so, then the Blessed One said that relying on mind and dharma, mind consciousness arises, the touch of the three combined, and the simultaneous arising of

Wasn't it said that feeling, perception, and consciousness arise? If so, how is it that at that time, although there is consciousness, the three are not completely assembled? Even if the three are assembled, how can there be no contact? Even if there is contact, why is it said that by what is the cessation of perception and feeling, that is, there is no feeling and perception? Etc., when entering these states, it is extensively refuted that there is consciousness, virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral. Finally, it is concluded that, therefore, you, the logician, have not understood the meaning of the scriptures as they are, so in the state of cessation samadhi, etc., thinking that there is consciousness with mind is biased. Furthermore, if this is non-conceptual samadhi, there must be consciousness. If that is the case, the Thirty Verses say: "The arising of consciousness is constant," generally speaking, except for the unconscious, the two samadhis, mindless sleep, and fainting, it is specifically excluded that these five situations do not occur, so it cannot be consciousness. Furthermore, when proving the existence of the Alaya consciousness to the Sravaka school that does not accept the six consciousnesses, the Compendium says: "Why is it that without the Alaya consciousness, mindless samadhi is not possible?" Thus, the consciousness that enters the unconscious samadhi or the cessation samadhi will only be separated from the body, and will not be inseparable, so if it will only be death, the Blessed One has said, "Its consciousness is not separated from the body," therefore, if there is no Alaya consciousness, there is no afflicted mind, and entering the two samadhis will become death, it is unreasonable to say so. Because the answer is that cessation samadhi itself is consciousness, so it is mindful, it is enough to answer like this. Therefore, Asanga Bodhisattva said that when entering cessation samadhi, the Alaya consciousness says it is mindful, and there is no other consciousness that says it is mindful. Thus, the establishment of cessation samadhi by the Mahayana masters seems to be only the treatises of Asanga Bodhisattva and his followers, and there it does not describe the situation of cessation samadhi above non-conceptuality.
