Thus, it is not to be said that one is making correct discernment in the samadhi that possesses both. As stated before. In the 'Intention of the Capable One': The most flourishing of these limbs, that is, for one who is in samadhi on the path, correct discernment, speech, the limit of action, livelihood, and mindfulness are all impossible. If so, how does it become a dharma for accomplishing the eight limbs at the time of entering the path? It is said that by obtaining the Dharma that transcends the world, one obtains the non-discriminating nature of its essence, which is without outflows. By whatever is obtained, even if it has flourished, it will not enter into speech that reverts, and it will also enter into correct speech and so on. Therefore, by the cause and the one with the cause being closely connected, it is the eight limbs themselves. If it is different from this, it contradicts the path of samadhi. As explained, in the commentary on the Treasury, the Vaibhashikas say that the way the eight limbs of the path are present in samadhi seems to be written. However, discernment and mindfulness do not arise from them. In response to the Vaibhashikas' equal beginning, in the doctrine of non-discrimination, why is it not established that one obtains the cause of not entering into speech that reverts in samadhi, and obtains the one with the cause? Thus it is explained. Therefore, discernment and the three of body and speech, that is, four and view, are not manifest at the time of samadhi. Without being weary for a long time, the correct effort of meditating as an antidote to the obscuration of knowledge or what is to be abandoned by meditation. Because the reasons for calm abiding, superior seeing, and equanimity are not forgotten, the correct mindfulness of meditating as an antidote to the obscurations for manifesting the path of calm abiding and superior seeing, because there is no sinking or excitement. The correct concentration of meditating as an antidote to the obscurations that hinder the accomplishment of special qualities such as clairvoyance. In the Ornament it says: How is it after that? Following realization arises, knowing things as they are, and entering according to what is established, the three actions are purified, and the objects of knowledge are purified, and the path is purified, this is the antidote to the obscurations of special qualities. Thus it is said. The purification of the three actions mentioned here refers to the three, the limit of speech and livelihood, which are the body and speech actions that are said to be the body and speech actions that are free from faults. These two are also considered by the Vaibhashikas to be the nature of form.

The Second Buddha (referring to Nagarjuna) forbade the commentaries on the Treasury Treatise and the detailed explanations of karma, and kept them in his heart, so these are to be understood through knowledge, not practiced through material actions. Then, if it is said that these do not occur in meditative equipoise, is this contradictory? Because these are the actions of actually learning the external bodily and verbal conduct, and this refers to the situation where there is no meditative equipoise. Those who believe that bodily and verbal actions are material are bound by the sectarian views of the Hinayana. Some specifically point out and say that these are the bodily and verbal actions of the Hinayana, which is a sectarian fabrication and does not distinguish what is in accordance with reality, which has been said before. Although there are detailed analyses of these, I have not written them for fear of too many words. The fruit is the abandonment of what is to be abandoned by meditation. These eight limbs can also become four limbs: view is the limb of completely cutting off the conceptual thoughts of meditative equipoise, and through the instigation of conceptual thoughts, using language to express it, this is the limb of expression; using the statement of language and related speech to make the view completely pure; with the end of action, not doing what should not be done, making the discipline completely pure; with livelihood, enjoying clothing and so on as given, believing in frugality, these three are the limbs of making others believe. Through diligence, abandoning the afflictions to be abandoned by meditation, through mindfulness, abandoning the sinking and agitation of near afflictions, through samadhi, accomplishing special qualities such as clairvoyance, using power as an antidote to unfavorable factors, these three are the limbs of antidotes. As the Madhyantavibhaga says: Completely cutting off and being able to express, the three make others believe, the antidote to unfavorable factors, the limbs of the path are these eight, view and discipline and frugality, wanting to make others understand, afflictions, near afflictions and power, are the antidotes to unfavorable factors. Thus it is said. In the Ornament of Realization, it is said that from the twenty-four mindfulnesses to the eight limbs, these are explained as a way of proving the seven paths. Second, the seven paths have four to eight forms, in this way, what the disciples of the Shravaka Vehicle possess is the basis of the path of omniscience itself, that is, relying on it and so on. The second of the extensive explanations of explaining the aspects of omniscience, that is, in accordance with what the Bodhisattvas possess.
