When giving, thinking like this: Have I given? Have I done giving? Have I done such a giving? From thoughts like, "I will make the Buddha-field completely pure, I will make sentient beings completely mature, I will attain omniscience," there is no such thought. These are the three things to be abandoned, the number as before. Among them, although the first line does not directly grasp the antidote to the first two things to be abandoned, it implies it. The second thing to be abandoned is: the practice of dedicating to Bodhi with attachment to the characteristics of the mind that dedicates and the virtue to be dedicated. To this, the latter two lines imply the spoken antidote, that is: to perceive the great Bodhicitta as mind, to perceive giving as giving, from "to perceive the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha as the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, to perceive the Bhagavan Buddha as the Buddha, and to perceive any roots of virtue arising towards the Buddha as roots of virtue," thereby manifestly gathering these roots of virtue, combining them into one, measuring them, and dedicating them to unsurpassed perfect Bodhi, this is precisely the attachment of the great Bodhisattvas of Kauśika. The antidote is: to prevent oneself from boasting of "I have given, I have kept the precepts," etc., and by applying such behavior to other trainees as well, thereby preventing all extremes of attachment of oneself and others. How to prevent it? When giving, from "I have given" to "I have practiced the unshared qualities of the Buddha, I have practiced the Bodhi path," not generating discriminating thoughts, thus the great Bodhisattva should truly show others, guide them to accept, praise them, and make them truly rejoice. Similarly, this should also be done in order to the trainees who are completely ignorant, selfless, completely discouraged, and truly entered on the path. The third line should also be added to the end of the first line. Thus, the first line implies the first two antidotes, and the latter two lines imply what is to be abandoned, and directly show the antidote, dividing what is to be abandoned and the antidote into two groups, this is precisely the ultimate secret intention of the three parts of the eighty-four thousand verses of the Commentary on Sunlight. However, for the people of the snowy land, being able to explain separately is as clear as day.

Like a star. Third, the purity of the three spheres, that is, not clinging to this, because when practicing giving, etc., one can realize or after realizing that the giver and the receiver are both without self, and abide in this, and place other beings to be tamed in this, like the path of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, it is not an occasional antidote, but an antidote in all situations, because it is the only thing to be taken, because one has correctly entered the reality of form, etc., and the place of attachment, the aggregates of manifest clinging, all seeds are blocked by the antidote, or all bases of clinging are blocked by wisdom, that is, because there is no object of focus. The sutra says that abandonment and antidote exist separately, but this commentary combines the antidotes into one, and says that the antidote of the first abandonment is not grasped, which is considering the simplification of words in order, and the ability to understand by implication. Second, there are four: the nature of attachment, the reason for attachment, the antidote to attachment, and the meaning extended from the reason. First, there are two, first: the Buddhas, etc., in order, mentally focusing on the virtues of the three between them in a characteristic way, and offering and dedicating to enlightenment, is subtle attachment, that is, a son of a lineage or a daughter of a lineage, having entered the unsurpassed complete enlightenment, if one mentally focuses on the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha in a characteristic way, then, Venerable Subhuti, as much as it becomes characteristic, that much is attachment. It is said thus. The virtues of the three between the Buddhas, after mentally focusing in this way and dedicating, it is also said thus. Second: Mentally focusing on the Tathagata in a characteristic way, and prostrating with the body, etc., and praising with speech, etc., are the opposing factors of the Bodhisattva path. If it is said that because it is an antidote, it contradicts there, then because it is the cause of the accumulation of merit, it is the antidote to some karmic obscurations, etc., but it is not an antidote in all situations, so there is no fault, because it is attachment, that is, because it is the nature of subtle clinging. The third chapter will be explained. Second, there are three, first: If asked what is the reason why subtle attachment is an opposing factor? It will also explain not only the nature, but also the reason. Second: the path of Dharma, etc., the path is of that kind, the Mother is the profound one spoken by the Blessed One, Venerable Subhuti, all dharmas
