. Having abandoned that bliss, one will go to peace. Thus, the abandonment of the Mahayana mind generation, that is the very best, is said to be separated from the bliss of seeing the selflessness of phenomena. In other teachings of Maitreya, it is also only determined by sound, except for a small difference in one's own tradition, it has not been said that Hearers and Solitary Realizers can realize the selflessness of phenomena. Following that, in the treatises of the brothers Asanga and Sthiramati, etc., it is not seen that Hearers and Solitary Realizers are said to realize the selflessness of phenomena. Among the Madhyamika teachers, such as the great teacher Shantarakshita, the teacher-disciple Zhi-tsho, and the Paramitayana followers including the descendants of Arya Simha, all said that Hearers and Solitary Realizers did not realize the selflessness of phenomena. In this regard, there are very many scholars in India and Tibet. In this Ornament for Clear Realization, it seems that during the stage of Hearers and Solitary Realizers' application path, there is a form of selflessness of phenomena, but it does not fit with the overall context. Second, there are three parts: quoting the teacher's words, explaining the meaning of the words, and refuting the arguments against it. The first is: From the Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning: If there is acceptance of real things, then unbearable attachment and hatred arise, and bad views are held. From that, disputes arise. That is the cause of all views. Without that, afflictions do not arise. Therefore, if that is completely known, views and afflictions are completely extinguished. Who will know that? It is seeing dependent arising. The Supreme One of Perfect Knowledge said that what arises dependently is not born. Also, from the Precious Garland: As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, so long as there is clinging to self. If there is clinging to self, then there is karma. From that, there is rebirth. The three realms, without beginning, middle, or end, the wheel of samsara is like a firebrand. These causes are interdependent, therefore they wander in samsara. Because that is not seen in oneself, others, or the three times, clinging to self is destroyed. From that, karma and birth also. Thus, the former says that if there is clinging to real things, then attachment and so on arise, and if there is not, then they cease. The latter says that if there is that, then there is clinging to self, the view of the destructible, and karma that arises from afflictions, and the subsequent arising of existence from those two, and those selves, others, and the three times.

Because it is seen that all phenomena are without self-nature, it is said that it can prevent self-grasping and so on, thus showing that the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have realized the selflessness of phenomena. The Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha Arhats have abandoned all destructive views and greed, hatred, etc., and believe that they will not be reborn due to karma and afflictions. As the Commentary on the Mind says: "Ignorance and afflictions are not abandoned." It also says: "However, in the three realms, there is no birth for them." What is said in the Precious Garland cannot be explained as referring to Bodhisattvas, because it is said as before, and at the end of showing that they enter Nirvana without taking, it says: "Thus, the Bodhisattva, having seen, definitely desires enlightenment." Furthermore, the Precious Garland also says: "The Great Vehicle teaches no birth, the others say exhaustion, the meaning of exhaustion and no birth, is the same, therefore you should be patient." This means that the Madhyamikas of the Great Vehicle say from the beginning that no birth is emptiness, while the Shravaka school says that the exhaustion of phenomena not abiding in their own nature is emptiness. If self-nature is established, then exhaustion is unreasonable, therefore the Precious Garland says that the two have the same meaning. Moreover, the Root Wisdom says: "The Blessed One, knowing existence and non-existence, taught Katyayana, in that teaching he rejected, the two extremes of existence and non-existence." This means that in the Shravaka scriptures spoken by the Blessed One to Katyayana, he has declared the view of being free from the two extremes of existence and non-existence, thus showing that the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have realized that all phenomena are without self-nature. Secondly, the glorious Chandrakirti quotes the previous scriptures and treatises as evidence, explaining that the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have realized that all phenomena are without self-nature is the view of the Bodhisattva Nagarjuna. As the Commentary on the Entrance says, it is clearly affirmed: "From this teaching, it can be determined that the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas also have the wisdom to understand that all phenomena are without self-nature." If this is not the case, since they do not have the wisdom to fully understand that all phenomena are without self-nature, just like worldly people are free from desire, then they will also be overwhelmed by the Bodhisattvas who have initially generated the mind of enlightenment by analyzing with their own wisdom. Thus, after saying this and quoting the previous teachings, he explained the meaning as before. Furthermore, the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life also says: "Liberation comes from seeing the truth, what is the use of seeing emptiness?"
