Because it serves as the cause for guiding the path that leads to definite liberation through the three vehicles. This teacher and other commentators initially count dedication as one, and then divide it into twelve. Third, making dedication. In number, there are twelve aspects. Among these six, first, where is it done? To the unsurpassed, etc. Second, for whom? For sentient beings, etc. As stated in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Whether directly or indirectly, do not act for anything other than the benefit of sentient beings. For the sake of sentient beings alone, dedicate everything to enlightenment." Like that. Third, for what purpose? For the inexhaustible, etc. As stated in the sutra: "Just as a drop of water falls into the great ocean, it will not be exhausted until the ocean dries up. Likewise, the virtue that is fully dedicated to enlightenment will not be exhausted until enlightenment is attained." Like that. Fourth, by what means? By the wisdom of non-attachment to the twelve objects, and as the cause for showing sentient beings the path without error, that is, the twelve kinds of attention that possess both skillful means and wisdom. What are they? The first twelve are names, and the latter twelve are meanings, so the names and the named should be combined in order. At the time of aspiration, as mentioned earlier, the special attention that aspires to the object of aspiration, enlightenment, is called the dedication attention that is named in this way: not focusing on the unsurpassed enlightenment of the Tathāgatas in a clinging manner, but focusing on it as if it were an illusion, and possessing the nature of compassion, which is the cause for showing the respective paths to the three types of sentient beings to be tamed by the three vehicles, and the function of benefiting others. The remaining ones should also be combined in the same way at the end of the former and the latter. Whatever object of merit is endowed with rejoicing in the great enlightenment is made common with all sentient beings, and this, dedicated in a non-clinging manner to unsurpassed, perfect enlightenment, is said to be the most excellent. Like that. That which has the aspect of non-attachment is: the discipline of all the Tathāgatas, etc., as well as the aggregates of samādhi, wisdom, liberation, and the knowledge and vision of liberation, etc. How do sons and daughters of the Mahāyāna lineage focus on the signs?

, thus dedicating to the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, those objects and those aims are not objects to be aimed at. Thus it is said. In this, in the Ornament Manifest, it says: With the mind that does not focus on the aggregates of morality, etc., but focuses on them, the merit that is rejoiced and possessed, for the sake of all sentient beings, should be dedicated to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Thus it is said. In the former, it also says that enlightenment is focused on without being focused on, so although this text and the last three dedications of the Ornament Manifest take non-focus as their object, it is better to combine non-focus with the way of realization of the subject, because this was made to show non-attachment, and if one does not realize non-focus with the mind, even if the object is not focused on, one will still be attached. This scripture also prevents the answer to the question of what are the twelve numbers of dedication, in which the one who dedicates the special, etc., does not dedicate. The non-inverted, which is without self-view, etc., is the mind that dedicates. If the great Bodhi mind thinks of those Buddhas, Bhagavan, and Sravaka Sanghas, but does not arise with the thought of Buddha, does not arise with the thought of Sravaka, does not arise with the thought of virtue, and with whatever mind the mind of dedication arises, does not arise with the thought of mind, then the great Bodhi of such dedication the thought of mind will not be inverted. Thus, the same applies to mind and view. Those three are also the thought of grasping at characteristics, the thought of grasping at objects, and the three views of completely analyzing, grasping at what is not that as that. The merit that is manifestly accumulated, that is, truly knowing that all dharmas are devoid, that is, the discrimination that is connected with others by self and others, the great Bodhi mind knows that the things that are done by merit are manifestly accumulated, and that they are devoid of aggregates, realms, and sources. Thus it is said. Remembering the nature of the collection of roots of virtue of the Tathagata together with the Sravakas, knowing it to be like an illusion, that is, the virtue of the Buddhas of the three times together with the Sravakas, the great Bodhi mind remembers all the roots of virtue of those Buddhas, Bhagavan, and Sravaka Sanghas,
