That is because the manner of meditating on the truth as an object has not been shown. If you allow that, then the objects and aspects of the path of seeing, the stages of realization progressing from higher to higher, will not only be vast but will also become as if nothing at all has been shown. How then will the meaning of the words "Ornament of Clear Realization" be explained? In the Difficult to Understand, it says: Because the order of meditating and learning according to the order of the clear realizations that have been spoken of, and so on, has not been explained, and the attainment of Buddhahood through the perfection of meditation has not been explained, therefore, because the order of clear realizations of generating the mind of enlightenment and so on, and the path and the ultimate end of that, the attainment of Buddhahood itself, has not been explained at all. Without showing the order in which clear realizations are connected in an orderly manner, it will become as confused as the sutras such as the Hundred Thousand Verses. It is said that this explanation is not seen as proper. Secondly, there is also harm from scripture other than harm from reasoning. How so? "Object and aspect," and so on. How can the meaning of the verse "Aspects prevent manifest attachment" be interpreted? How can it be said to be reasonable? It is said to be unreasonable. Moreover, if the aspects are not shown, then the treatises such as the Tathagatagarbha and Buddha, etc., because the order of clear realizations has not been explained at all, there is not only no meaning to be explained. Moreover, the Difficult to Understand says that the scripture that shows the difference from the Hearers by means of the objects and aspects of heat and so on will also be absent. In short, the teacher believes that if the truth is objectified in any way through the aspects of the objectifier, the way in which the sixteen wisdoms arise should be shown, while the former party believes that it has not been shown. The former party's claim that this is the view of the noble ones is a mistake because they have not seen the Ornament of Light. In the concise teaching, the four truths have already been shown, so the manner of objectifying them must also be shown, so the teacher's view is correct. Therefore, it is unreasonable for the great ones not to praise this. Divided into two: connecting the context and explaining the actual meaning. The first is: If we follow the order of arising, then after the end of the path of seeing, the path of meditation should be spoken of. The second is also divided into two: the activity of the path of meditation and the path of meditation with activity. The first is divided into three, the first is: Even so, without speaking of it, for the time being...

The function of the path of meditation has been explained. The reason and necessity are that, in order, this function is less than what is stated in the path of meditation, that is, the basis of discussion is small; in order to make the beings to be tamed rejoice in the fruit of the path of meditation, thereby entering into the cause of the path of meditation, that is, in order to lead them into it. In the Clear Words, it says, "In order to reduce the things to be said to the beings to be tamed, and to enter into the fruit, it is said." And it is pointed out that the beings to be tamed who can be said to abide in the function of the path of meditation are very few, that is, rare. This shows that this path is difficult to obtain. Because of the hope of entering into the fruit, the path of meditation gives rise to faith and other three mental activities, so one should enter into these six causes. Therefore, it is meaningless to instruct these, because this is similar to the characteristic of the function, and both aim at the fruit. Shantideva believes that because there are few sutras, he first wants to explain the function, so that what is expressed is also less. The connection of the sutras is: on the path, through subsequent knowledge, the Mother Buddha makes the Bodhisattvas realize their own faults and teaches them to learn the path, which is developed from this. The second is: there are six functions. That is, "Whenever one is completely subdued," and so on. These six functions can also be summarized into two, that is, five functions belonging to one's own continuum and another's continuum, and one. The first is further divided into four temporary functions and one ultimate function. Among the four, the mind is subdued internally, so externally one is respectful to others; internally, hatred and so on are pacified, so one is not shaken by external harm. These Shantideva also explains as the function of the uncontaminated path of meditation. The third is: through gaining mastery over all forms of afflictions, in all stages of the form of the path, making one's own mind autonomous, that is: this Mother Buddha is like this, the great Bodhisattvas are completely subdued and without arrogance, and it is wonderful to abide for this purpose. After being subdued, because of cutting off the conceit of obtaining superior qualities, one is respectful to the virtuous teacher and all other beings such as companions, that is: the great Bodhisattvas practice the transcendental Dharma, and when giving alms, they do not cling to the giver, do not cling to the object of giving, and do not cling to the receiver. World Honored One, in this way, the great Bodhisattvas who practice the Mother Buddha are completely subdued
