The nature of the twenty, and the way to attain by abandoning them. The first is: The first fourteen and the last two hold to the extreme, and the three refuges and the precepts, that is, the four that look to the extreme, are manifestly attached, like ornaments appearing. Although others explain this and the two antidotes below separately, the teacher combines them according to the order of abandonment and antidote. Similarly, it also appears in the Wisdom Lamp, so the twenty faults should be explained together with the antidotes, for the sake of less effort. The second is: Knowing all is attained. Where are the grounds, etc.? Why is it said so? Because it is connected to the one-going path. It is desired to be in a place that has gone far, because the one-going path is connected without interruption to the eighth ground, so the effort of diligently doing the action is completed. Because of this. By what? After being separated from such twenty faults, the antidote dharma that reverses from what is to be abandoned, is the twenty purifications thrown by the force of the meaning of what is to be abandoned. The method is as before. There are three in the second, the first is: Where are those thrown by force? To show that the twenty antidotes of the dharma thrown by the meaning of what is to be abandoned are explained. Here, "thrown by force" means to be taken at the time of showing the twenty faults. The second is: From liberation to twenty, that is, to completely perfect these twenty, what are the twenty? To perfect emptiness, to the point where one also dwells in the mandala of the Buddha's retinue and shows the nature of self. There are two in the third, the nature of each of the purifications, and the way to attain by purification. The first is: Knowing the three doors of liberation is to know that all dharmas are empty of their own nature, and not to think of any of the signs of dharmas, and not to dwell in the mind through the gate of craving for the three realms, so in order to truly know the doors of liberation, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, in order to abandon the self, that is, the established nature, and the signs of sentient beings such as "this is born, this is a woman," and to cherish life as supreme, which dwells in the three realms. In order to know the first door of liberation, in short, it is to take the self-nature emptiness of all dharmas as close and complete.

The term "ground" refers to the self-grasping to be abandoned here, which is not merely considering the object as the self of a person, but refers to the generally existing things that are considered to be truly existent. In the "Prajna Pradipa," it is explained as the self that has no dominion over the aggregates, etc., and the realization that it is devoid of cause and devoid of result. The purity of the three circles refers to: the one to be killed as the object of action, and the killer as the agent, and the nature of the action - killing, like this, abandoning killing without clinging to the three circles, and so on, similarly, in their respective situations, abandoning taking what is not given up to wrong views without clinging to the three circles, entering the path of the ten virtuous actions. Abandoning the clinging to the person who abandons and the killer as the same person. Compassion refers to: for all sentient beings tormented by suffering, wishing them to be free from suffering in this life and in future lives, the loving-kindness that focuses on this way, that is, abandoning the clinging to the object of love - sentient beings, as being annihilated after death. Absence of pride refers to: starting from purifying the Buddha-field, not clinging to the true entity of phenomena, that is, abandoning the clinging to the permanent nature that is established as never abandoning its own nature. In short, it is said that loving-kindness is perfected by absence of pride, and in accordance with this, it is also recited as "and compassion and absence of pride." The equality of phenomena refers to: realizing that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana are equal from the beginning, that is, abandoning the clinging to the characteristics of acceptance and rejection of these two. Knowing the one mode refers to: realizing that the ultimate Mahayana lineage is one, that is, abandoning the clinging to the cause - the lineage, as being definitely three different types. Knowing the unborn refers to: completely knowing that name and form are unborn from the beginning, that is, abandoning the clinging to the aggregates as being born. Knowing forbearance refers to: for the profound Dharma, understanding the nature of the realm that is free from elaboration without fear, thereby comprehending forbearance, that is, abandoning the clinging to the eighteen realms as cause and effect. Showing all phenomena as one mode refers to: explaining all knowable objects by means of the Mahayana method, that is, the non-duality of the grasper and the grasped, that is, abandoning the clinging to the twelve sources as internal and external. Completely destroying all discriminations refers to: cutting off or destroying the clinging discriminations that appear as the grasper and the grasped, that is, abiding in the three realms is true.
