Although there are limitless clear distinctions of the place of entry, they are the Four Noble Truths. The way of entry is stated in the Compendium: "For suffering and its origin, one also wrongly conceives of them as their cause and the place of their basis. All ten afflictions also wrongly enter into cessation and the path by generating fear of them." This is its meaning. The meaning of this is: As long as the common characteristic of the Four Noble Truths, the emptiness of a self of a person, is not directly realized, these ten will actually generate contaminated actions, and by their own similar kind, the former will generate the latter, and the latter will project and accomplish maturation, thus causing suffering to increase. They are the cause of suffering and its origin. And by focusing on those two, these will also increase, thus those two also become the cause and basis of these ten. When the Four Noble Truths are directly realized as empty of a self, then the action of those increasing each other will cease, thus these ten are wrongly entered into suffering and its origin, because seeing the nature of those two will abandon them. Similarly, if one does not see the Four Noble Truths as selfless, due to being manifestly delighted in samsara, one will perceive the cause and effect of liberation as a precipice and become afraid, and when one sees it, that fear will also cease through the means of abandoning the ten afflictions, thus one fears the path of cessation, which is not a place of fear, and thus the ten afflictions that are abandoned are wrongly entered into those two. That is also to be understood by means of three ways: directly, indirectly or wrongly, and wrongly by force. Among these, the first is the first two views and the last view, that is, three, and ignorance and doubt, that is, two non-views, these five are directly wrongly entered into the Truths, in order, they are clinging to a self and what belongs to a self in the Truths, and clinging to permanence and annihilation in that, denying those aspects of the Truths, or adding to those aspects in a way that is different from what was said, being ignorant of the nature of the Truths, and being uncertain whether those are as they are shown, because one clings to the Truths in a reversed way without the interruption of other afflictions. In the Compendium, it is said that doubt is wrongly entered into the antidote, which refers to the fact that the Four Noble Truths are the place of the antidote.

So. Secondly, regarding views, there are two that hold to be supreme, and regarding non-views, there are two of desire and pride, these four are indirectly entering the wrong path. The order is, holding to be supreme the view that actually enters the wrong path, viewing bad conduct related to wrong views as the decisive factor for purification and liberation, filling the mind with wrong views, and being attached to wrong views, because of clinging in other ways that are separated from the truth, so it is clinging to afflictions in a reversed manner. Thirdly, anger and the like are entering the wrong path based on power, because of the power of the mind being universally tormented by views that do not conform to one's own views, thus entering the wrong path. Secondly, there are two: characteristics and divisions. First, the general characteristic is: whatever unknowingness becomes the object to be eliminated by the path of meditation. The characteristics of its afflictive obscuration and cognitive obscuration are, in order, whatever unknowingness that is of an afflictive and non-afflictive nature becomes the object to be eliminated by the path of meditation. Secondly, there are two ways of explaining. The first, from the perspective of essence, there are six, and from the perspective of realms, there are sixteen. As stated in the Compendium: In the desire realm, there are six to be abandoned through meditation, namely the view of the aggregates, the co-emergent view of clinging to extremes, desire, anger, pride, and ignorance. In the form realm, there are five excluding anger. Just as in the form realm, so too in the formless realm, in short, these sixteen afflictions are the types to be abandoned through meditation. So it is said. If divided by grounds, there are forty-six, namely six in the desire realm, five in each of the four dhyanas, totaling twenty. It is the same in the four formless realms. If divided by the degree of greatness on the grounds, then in each of the nine grounds, the five excluding anger are each divided into nine, thus there are five times eighty-one, plus the anger divided into nine in the desire realm, totaling four hundred and fourteen. The second is, as stated in the Treasury: Four are to be abandoned by meditation. From the perspective of essence, it speaks of four: desire, anger, pride, and ignorance. In the upper realms, because there is no anger, there are three, so if divided by realms, there are ten. If these ten are divided according to the degree of greatness on the grounds as before, there are two hundred and fifty-two. This is the view of the Sarvastivadins who believe that the first two views are only to be abandoned by the path of seeing. The former is the five aggregates.
