In the commentary on the Nyāyabindu, it is said, "The three extreme views and doubt are only conceptually imputed, while the rest are both conceptually imputed and co-emergent." The Sautrāntikas also hold the same view. Thirdly, why are the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing (darśana-heya) described as wrong views about the truths, while the afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation (bhāvanā-heya) are distinguished by levels? Afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are coarse aspects generated by being misled by bad philosophical tenets. Therefore, they are abandoned simply by directly seeing the truth, and thus are explained in terms of wrong views about the aspects of the truths. Afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation, although not generated by conceptual imputation from bad philosophical tenets, are subtle aspects that are co-emergent and have been followed since beginningless time. Therefore, they must be abandoned through familiarization with seeing the truth, from great to medium to small. Since they cannot be abandoned merely by seeing, they are established as great, medium, and small in terms of levels. The meaning of "conceptually imputed" and "co-emergent" in relation to afflictions to be abandoned by seeing and afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation does not refer to whether the mind is transformed by non-Buddhist philosophical tenets or not, but rather to manifestation and latency. Thus, afflictions to be abandoned by seeing are wrong views about the truths, and afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation are wrong views about the object. Why are two different positions on afflictions to be abandoned by seeing presented in the Compendium of Topics (Abhidharma-samuccaya) and the Compendium of Cognitions (Abhidharma-samuccaya)? Some explain this by saying that they are the views of different treatises, and others say that they follow the different tenets of the Sautrāntikas and Cittamātrins, but these are not correct explanations. What, then, is the explanation? What is explained in the Compendium of Cognitions is that all afflictions arise until the true nature of the truths is seen, and they cease when it is seen. Considering this, they are described as wrong views about the truths. In the Compendium of Topics, the four categories are explained as a coarse classification. If considered from a detailed perspective, they are explained in the same way as in the Compendium of Cognitions. The Compendium of Topics itself states this, and the reason for arising is also explained in the same way as in the Compendium of Cognitions, so there is no contradiction at all. In the context of the Great Vehicle, which of these two systems should be followed for afflictions to be abandoned by seeing and afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation in terms of the obscurations of afflictions (kleśa-āvaraṇa)? In the Ornament of Realization (Abhisamayālaṃkāra) and the Intent of the Sage (Thub dGongs), the system of the Compendium of Cognitions is explained in the context of bodhisattvas, so this is the one that should be accepted. The fourth part has two sections: how afflictions to be abandoned by seeing and afflictions to be abandoned by cultivation are abandoned. The first part has two sections: presenting other systems and establishing one's own system. The first point is that the Compendium of Topics and the Treasury of Knowledge (Abhidharmakośa) state: "Afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the desire realm are the dharma of the truth of suffering."

The two, forbearance-dharma and knowledge, and the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing the truth of suffering in the upper realms, are abandoned by the subsequent forbearance and subsequent knowledge of the truth of suffering. The remaining truths are also the same, and it is said that the antidotes to the afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the upper and lower realms are different. This is the view of the Hearers, according to 'Bre. Some Tibetans, in the context of the Great Vehicle, acknowledge the classification of afflictions to be abandoned by seeing as it appears in the Compendium, and then, when explaining the method of abandonment, say that it is in accordance with the Treasury. This is because they have not understood the uncommon method of abandonment in the Compendium, and are showing their own reality. Similarly, Abhayakara also considers the number of afflictions to be abandoned by seeing and the manner of wrongly engaging to be one hundred and twelve according to the Compendium, and that the forty afflictions to be abandoned by seeing that are desired are abandoned by the four forbearance-dharmas, and that the seventy-two afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the upper realms are abandoned by the four subsequent forbearances. Although this is the statement of a great pandita, it should be discarded because he only knows that the number of afflictions to be abandoned by seeing in the upper and lower Abhidharma are different, but does not understand the distinction in the method of abandonment. So what is the rule of the Compendium? This will be explained in the Knowledge of the Path, and also some of the wrong explanations in the Compendium's explanation of the Path of Seeing should be refuted at that time. Secondly, the actual antidotes to the four afflictions to be abandoned by seeing, which are to be abandoned by seeing the four truths, will be explained. The second has three parts: the way it is explained from the Dharma Abhidharma, examining what that view is, and showing other differences in what is to be abandoned and the antidotes. First, there are two ways to abandon afflictions: like this, by meditating on the peaceful and coarse in the upper and lower grounds, and by meditating on the selflessness of the person, which is contrary to the root of all afflictions, ignorance, and clinging, and is empty of aggregates, self, and what belongs to self. That is also in the nine grounds, the antidotes to the nine-nine divisions of what is to be abandoned by meditation, and the mundane and supramundane paths of meditation also have the same substance. However, there is no abandonment of the nine to be abandoned at the peak of existence by the mundane path of meditation. Among them, the first is to abandon manifestation, and the second is to abandon latent tendencies, the first is common to non-Buddhists, and the second is the uncommon path of this teaching. The way to abandon the afflictions to be abandoned in the three realms by the supramundane path of meditation
