Because this is fundamental, it is very important for the treatises that explain the stages of Abhisamayalankara, and I think that most commentators are also unable to explain it as it is, so I will briefly describe it. The second part has four aspects: cause, essence, classification, and etymological explanation. First, regarding the cause, the Ornament of Clear Realization says: "From the cause of happiness and suffering, arises the compassion of the Bodhisattva. From the cause, spiritual friend, and nature, arises the compassion of the Bodhisattva." Here, the first half refers to the feelings of happiness and suffering, and the feeling that leads these two - equanimity. Because it aims at the three feelings and generates compassion in the manner of wanting to be free from the three sufferings, it shows the object and condition of compassion. The latter half shows the remaining three conditions. Among them, the cause refers to the causal condition, which is the uncontaminated seed on the Alaya consciousness. The spiritual friend refers to the dominant condition, which is the one who proclaims the immeasurable. Nature refers to the immediately preceding condition, which is the previous wisdom. These three remaining conditions can be applied to all four, and the first condition will be explained in the section on essence. The second part is divided into general and specific. First, the general aspect, the Ornament of Clear Realization says: "Abandoning what is contrary to the teachings, possessing non-discriminating wisdom, applying to the three objects, making sentient beings fully mature." Here it explains that it has four characteristics. The characteristic of abandoning the contrary aspects is, in order, abandoning harmful thoughts, harming, displeasure, and harmful desire. The characteristic of the antidote is obtaining the antidote to those objects to be abandoned. The characteristic of the object is to aim at sentient beings, Dharma, and no object. The characteristic of the function is to make sentient beings mature. Second, in the Compendium says: "What is love? Based on meditation, the thought of wishing sentient beings to be happy, and the samadhi and wisdom that are properly attained in the state of mind, and the mind and mental factors that are equally possessed. What is compassion? Based on meditation, the thought of wishing sentient beings to be free from suffering, as mentioned before. What is joy? Based on meditation, the thought of wishing sentient beings not to be separated from happiness, such as

As before. What is equanimity? As previously stated, it is the correct attainment of abiding in the thought of benefiting sentient beings by relying on meditation. They also explain the place, object, aspect, nature, and companion. First, any pure entity of the four dhyanas. Second, it is all sentient beings, with a slight distinction, it is sentient beings who do not possess happiness, possess suffering, possess happiness, and possess the cause of distinguishing between near and far, attachment and aversion. Third, it is wanting to meet, and so on. Fourth, it is samadhi and wisdom. Fifth, it is mind and mental factors. The third is, sentient beings and dharma, and the three, such as love, that are focused on the absence of focus. Among them, the first is the object of the arising of love, etc., focusing on the nature of the substance of sentient beings or individuals, giving rise to compassion, etc. Second, even if the substance of the suffering sentient being is not established, love, etc., arise by focusing on the suffering being who is merely the nature of the dharma. Third, it is love, etc., that does not focus on merely the dharma, but focuses on suchness that is free from grasping and being grasped. Alternatively, the objects of these are wanting to meet with happiness, being tormented by suffering, wanting not to be separated from happiness, and the mind of the afflicted is the first object, and the treatises that proclaim the immeasurable, and suchness are the objects of the latter two in sequence. As the Ornament says: "Those of the steadfast desire for happiness and, tormented by suffering and happiness and, the afflicted and those treatises, enter greatly into its suchness." That is, the first is the ordinary person, the second is the Hearer-Solitary Realizer and the common, and the third is the Buddha-Bodhisattva, this is what Shakya-blo said. In the Sutra of Inexhaustible Intelligence it says: "The love of the Bodhisattva who initially generates the mind is focused on sentient beings. The love of the Bodhisattva who has entered into practice is focused on the Dharma. The love of the Bodhisattva who has obtained forbearance of the unborn Dharma is focused on the absence of focus." Thus, the stages of the Bodhisattva's own path are divided into three. Fourth, in the Destruction of Demons chapter of the Hundred Thousand Prajnas, it focuses on immeasurable sentient beings.
