If asked, how is it known to be separate from the five distinctions? From where does it arise? From the Vinaya, that is, from the Sutra Pitaka or the Abhidhamma Pitaka of the Hearers. Where? That is, the objects and aspects of the roots of virtue, such as the warmth of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, and so on. How? By being able to experience form and so on, grasping at characteristics, the mind acting on objects, the nature of the five aggregates manifested as the nature of reality in each separate object, and by aiming at the purity of the four truths, acting as an antidote to the view of self in persons, entering into the sixteen aspects such as impermanence, and for the sake of attaining the Hearer's and Solitary Realizer's respective vehicles, that is, only for the cause of attainment, and being separate from the guidance of skillful means of virtuous friends, and not possessing the four kinds of conceptual thoughts that become obstacles to one's own enlightenment, it arises in that way. Therefore, it is established as inferior to the Great Vehicle. If it is said that it is unreasonable for the Sutras of the Lesser Vehicle to show inferiority separate from the distinctions of one's own path of application, although the Sutras of the Lesser Vehicle do not speak of inferiority in the way of not having these distinctions, merely by saying "the objects and aspects of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers are like this," it is said that they considered it to be established as inferior to the Great Vehicle and taught it as separate from the five distinctions. The third is that those who are in accordance with the definitive aspect of the Bodhisattvas, some aim at the reality of the four truths through the aspect of cause, as is possible or reasonable, and separate it in that way, and the rest are the same. That is also in the case of the intermediate forbearance, some aim through the aspect of cause, because they hold that "realizing the absence of birth and arising, this is the cause of the five purities such as the body." In the case of the smallest supreme Dharma, some aim through the aspect of fruit, because they realize that "the Samadhi of heroic conduct and so on possesses the fruit of benefiting sentient beings." The former distinguishes the ability to produce without first realizing the fruit, while the latter aims at the fruit itself, realizing that it truly exists in it and distinguishes it. In the case of the smallest forbearance, some aim through the aspect of self-nature, in ultimate self-nature.

Therefore, clinging to this absence of inherent existence is the belief that it exists in conventional truth as an entity. In some cases of the remaining nine aspects, one focuses on the aspect of the nature of reality, thereby manifesting the four noble truths, the ultimate truth free from elaboration. Thus, among the two aspects of conventional and ultimate truth, the former manifests the three aspects of cause, effect, and entity, while the ultimate is solely the aspect of the nature of reality. Likewise, focusing on various aspects is also due to the power of skillful means without attachment. These instances are written by me as they were composed by the great being, the author of the Ornament of Clear Realization. Furthermore, the logician teaches that in the origin of suffering (samudaya), one focuses on the cause of suffering; in suffering (duhkha), one focuses on the effect of the origin; in cessation (nirodha), one focuses on the entity as the entity of all phenomena; and in the path (marga), one focuses on the aspect of the nature of reality. Moreover, Sher Jung says that for the four noble truths, such as the origin of suffering, one focuses on the cause of the characteristic of dependent origination, the fruit of being realized, the entity of the characteristic of emptiness, and the nature of reality, the non-differentiated self, or on aspects such as non-manifest attachment, which are called the twelve aspects of arising. Also, in the Clear Words, it says: 'The door of the cause is that of all vehicles. The fruit is the direct cause of Buddhahood. The entity is definitely abiding in the nature of the realm of phenomena, and apart from the realm of phenomena, there is no such phenomenon.' The way of the nature of reality is that the nature of the realm of phenomena also abides due to the greatness of the power of dependent origination in various distinctions such as the object and aspect of conventional truth, which is the meaning of 'abiding.' Therefore, in this Great Vehicle, the power of skillful means is great in transforming from one single nature into various forms, and the various forms also become one, and such a transformation without elaboration is the greatness of the nature of the realm of phenomena. Such explanations are not the intention of the teacher. Not only does one focus on the four noble truths through those four aspects, but also through other aspects.
