The two who have entered the state of Once-Returner are counted as one when they reach twenty. The second, the mere state of fruition, is the one who, abiding on the path of liberation, having abandoned the sixth affliction of the desire realm, returns once. The third, the special state of fruition, is that the very Once-Returner, having abandoned the root of existence, is born as a god, with only one life remaining, so other than the mere state of fruition, the other special one is the one with one interruption. The third, among the two states of entering and abiding in the state of Non-Returner, the first is: the two sharp and dull faculties who have abandoned the seventh or eighth affliction of the desire realm and strive to abandon the ninth, are those who have entered the third fruition. The former four are counted as one. If asked, why are the two sharp and dull faculties of the first entrant counted separately, while the entrance of the middle two is counted as one? Some say that at the time of the fifteen moments of the path of seeing, they are accompanied by the function of antidote, and that also has the different abilities of the two faculties, so they are established as two. When abiding in the fruition, the function of antidote has ceased, so it is said to be made one. That is, at the time of the state of fruition, although there is no function of abandoning what is to be abandoned by seeing, there is the function of abandoning what is to be abandoned by meditation. The Jonangpas say that the path of seeing arises without interruption, so there is no room for the transference of faculties, so they are counted as two because they are definitely separate. At the time of the path of meditation, the faculties transfer and are not definitely separate, so it is said to be counted as one, which is reasonable. The second is: the Non-Returner who has abandoned the ninth affliction of the desire realm, and there are five types of them. The first is the one who attains Nirvana in the intermediate state: the actual co-emergent bond of being born in the form realm has been abandoned, but the co-emergent bond of accomplishing that intermediate state has not been abandoned, so it accomplishes the existence of the intermediate state, and it is also acceptable when it is accomplished. Having manifested the path in the intermediate state, they obtain the end of suffering. This is explained in the Clear Words Commentary as accumulating merit and attaining enlightenment in the Brahma world with that very body. In the Abhidharmakosha, the term "in that very place" refers to the Akanistha heaven, not Jambudvipa. So it is said. The second is the one who attains Nirvana after being born: both co-emergent bonds have not been abandoned, so after being born in the form realm, they obtain the end of suffering. This is the one with the last existence, and without cutting off their lifespan, they attain enlightenment in that one lifetime. The third is the one who attains Nirvana with effort, and The fourth is the one who attains Nirvana without effort: in order, after being born in the form realm, they manifest the path through effort.

And, conversely, transcendence is the four nirvanas. Fifth, upward transfer has two types. First, the non-returner reaches the ultimate of Akanistha, that is, abandoning the intermediate places from the Brahma Heaven, jumping to Akanistha; or being born between the Brahma Heaven and the Pure Abodes, crossing several places, half jumping to Akanistha; or passing through all places, dying and transferring in all places and entering Akanistha, these three situations themselves are upward transfer to the peak of existence, besides which there are three types. Second, the non-returner reaches the peak of existence, which is detachment from desire for form, that is, destruction of attachment to form. Differentiating this, there are two situations different from going to Akanistha: the one who attains nirvana in this life of visible phenomena, and the one who manifests cessation with the body. In the previous two cases, "itself" refers to the upward transfer itself, which is the explanation of Rikjin. Here, in the old translation of the Ornament for Clear Realization, it says: "Reaching the end of the peak of existence is detachment from desire for form, and quiescence in the visible phenomena, manifesting with the body, these two situations are different." Just as explained in the Clear Words. These two situations are also in order, on the basis of the desire realm, abandoning the seen-to-be-abandoned and the meditatively-to-be-abandoned of the form realm, thereby obtaining the four formless absorptions. After dying from here, abandoning the form realm, and being born in the formless realm; and possessing the seven royal treasures, not taking another body, attaining Buddhahood in one lifetime. The latter is considered the supreme Bodhisattva. This way of explaining should be done as stated in the Hundred Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra. That is, first explain reaching the peak of existence, and then explain by destroying attachment to form. Differentiating it, the one who has quiescence in this life of visible phenomena cannot go to the two upper realms; and the one who manifests with the body does not necessarily go to these two realms. These two distinctions are like saying "a horse is called an elephant, and if you distinguish it, it is a sheep and a goat", which are irrelevant. If speaking from the perspective of the Hearers, the Truth Bodhisattva can reach the end of the peak of existence by practicing the eight concentrations of dhyana and formless absorption. Because one is able to enter formless absorption, it is also called destroying attachment to form, which is what the author of the Three Hundred Thousand Verses said, and is reasonable as explained by Jamyang Yeshe.
