It is for the meaning of symbolizing. The third explanation is that when the antidote to being free from clinging to impermanence, etc., is shown as the base knowledge, the opposite paths that arise from it are shown to be the paths of hearers and solitary realizers. And, in order to separately show that path as independent, it is not repeated. The fourth is, are all-knowing and dharmakaya repeated, because both are shown in both? It is not repeated, because the first is explained from the perspective of the object, and the eighth is explained from the perspective of the result. If it is said in terms of names, it is because it is shown from the perspective of symbol and self-nature. The second part is divided into two parts: the real meaning and avoiding repetition. The first part is divided into three parts: the three wisdoms, the four applications, and the body of the dharmakaya is extensively explained. The first part is divided into three parts: all-knowing, path knowledge, and the body of base knowledge is extensively explained. The first part is divided into three parts: how the all-knowing is explained, establishing its explainer, and the basis of the individual. The first is: if all-knowing is shown here, why show the generation of bodhicitta, etc., instead of showing it? Because it is shown symbolically with these ten meanings, there is no fault. How is it symbolized? To this, the great ones say: these ten are the cause of accomplishing all-knowing, therefore the result is shown symbolically with the cause. If the cause is how? The cause is accomplishment, and it is also the basis, the object, the purpose, and the self-nature, which are four. The basis also has four qualities, namely: the difference of intention is the generation of bodhicitta, obtaining instructions and following instructions, the difference of application is abiding in discernment, and the difference of lineage is having the dharmadhatu. That basis focuses on eleven objects, and by doing four accomplishments for the sake of three purposes, it is obtained. Thus, in the Jewel Lamp Treatise, it is also said: When the ten causes are complete, it is the all-knowing fruit itself. And so on, it is explained. To this, the previous scholars say: this is not symbolizing the fruit with the cause. Then what is it? The seven places where the three purposes arise are shown with the fruit, and the remainder is shown with the cause. Furthermore, because all knowable things are included in the object, all aspects of cause and effect are explained, and one wisdom that directly knows it is all-knowing. This is said by symbolizing the object with the object-possessor.

Although explained by other teachers, there is no contradiction. It can also be explained in this way: In general, does the Omniscient One know all the aspects, such as the dust of the earth? However, if one knows the complete method for those seeking liberation to attain it, that alone is sufficient for complete omniscience. Here, in order to complete this method, the generation of Bodhicitta and so on are taught. Therefore, the omniscience spoken of here is the knowledge of all aspects desired by those seeking liberation, as it is said in the Pramāṇavārttika: "This knowledge of the number of insects is of no use to us. Knowing the nature of what should be taken and abandoned, along with the means, is the measure. When is the desire for the nature of measure, not the knowledge of all things? Seeing the distant or not seeing it is the same, but seeing the nature of desire is seeing." The second has four parts: The nature of the path is the generation of Bodhicitta; purifying the generation of Bodhicitta, receiving instructions; the result of the instructions, the limbs of ascertainment; practicing the meaning of the instructions without inversion. The first, along with its characteristics and boundaries, will be explained later. The second has two parts: general instructions and special Mahāyāna instructions. The first is the expression that unerringly shows the path to liberation. The second, the Mahāyāna instructions, is the expression that unerringly teaches how to obtain the object of seeking for the sake of the Mahāyāna Bodhicitta. The boundaries of this and whether the teacher needs to be a Buddha will be explained later. The third, because non-conceptual wisdom abandons what is to be abandoned by seeing and is the cause of necessarily arising on the path of seeing, the limbs of ascertainment are any manifest realizations that arise after being in harmony with liberation, all of which are included in the stage of practice. In particular, the Mahāyāna path of joining is any wisdom that arises after the Mahāyāna path of accumulation, all of which are included in the stage of practice. If divided, there are the four stages of heat, peak, forbearance, and supreme dharma, which possess five distinctions. The fourth has four parts: the basis of practice; the object of practice; the purpose for which practice is done; the nature of the practice itself. The first has two parts: a general lineage and a special Mahāyāna lineage. The first is any element that, if cultivated, can be transformed into enlightenment. The second has two parts: a general Mahāyāna lineage and a specific one.
