"Nam kun" (Tibetan: རྣམ་ཀུན།, all ways) is the cause for attaining what has not been attained; "Tse mo" (Tibetan: རྩེ་མོ།, peak) is the time of attainment; "Thar gyis pa" (Tibetan: མཐར་གྱིས་པ།, gradual) is the cause for generating the excellence of what has already been attained; "Kye chig ma" (Tibetan: སྐད་ཅིག་མ།, moment) is merely the time of accomplishment. So, regarding cause and effect, if one is sufficient, what is the purpose of two? If there is no cause and effect of control, the Dharmakaya of effortless spontaneous accomplishment will not be attained; if there is no stable cause and effect, the omniscient wisdom that manifests all when one dharma is manifested will not be attained, so both are necessary, as the wise of the past have explained. It can also be explained in this way: if realization is not born in the continuum, merely knowing cannot destroy what is to be abandoned, so all means of generating that are needed; since what is born in the continuum and has been controlled is the peak. Even if it is born in the continuum, if it is not nourished by clearly visualizing the object in the mind, merely generating it will not be able to complete the path, so for that, gradual and momentary are ultimately needed, because it is cause and effect. Therefore, it can also be said that it is definitely four. From that very text: "During meditation, there is application, the temporary fruit is the support, and it is perfected by the ultimate of causes." The meaning of gradual is to gradually meditate on the three knowledges, such as giving, which is also practiced by connecting it in sequence with other white dharmas such as ethics. Momentary is when, through long familiarity with such mental activity, one manifests the inexhaustible, and all can be manifested, which is the ultimate time. Nam kun is mainly when one is in equipoise, one becomes accustomed to the meaning of the essence and is the cause of generating manifestation; Thar gyis pa is mainly when one is in post-meditation, it is the meditation of mentally engaging with manifestations that have arisen and have not arisen. Thus, having determined through hearing and thinking, the result of practicing with application is exhausted only in the Dharmakaya, so the number is definite. Thirdly, in the Lamp for Compendium of Meanings: "The sequence of the order of arising, first because of hearing and thinking, its object is spoken of earlier, that also first knows the result, then the cause and what is to be abandoned, are determined in sequence. Also the sequence of the four applications, all perfect accumulations of the path of accumulation, because it exists it is spoken of first, then the three arise in sequence, thus that is known."

Although there are sayings such as "sequence, etc.," it is reasonable that the wise ones of the past said that the sequence of explaining the three wisdoms, the four unions, and the meaning of the Dharmakaya is correct. Among them, the sequence of explanation is that if explained in that sequence, it is easy for the listeners to understand. The sequence of meaning is the sequence of cause and effect. Among them, all aspects and the peak are cause and effect, and the peak and gradualness are although the teacher says to practice gradualness after obtaining the peak, it is not a result produced by thought. The fourth has three: the three wisdoms, the four unions, and the boundaries of the Dharmakaya. First: It is unreasonable to say that Bodhisattvas have base wisdom and path wisdom, and Buddhas have three wisdoms, all of which have characteristics. In the praise, it is said that the supports and functions of the three wisdoms are different. In the classification of the body, it is also said: The All-Knowing Wisdom of the Able One. And, the Path Wisdom of the wise Bodhisattvas, that is how it is explained. And, the Path of Seeing of the Hearers, etc., is considered to be such All-Knowing Wisdom. Thus, the support is determined, and the scriptures also say that it is related to each support. Therefore, saying that Bodhisattvas and Buddhas have base wisdom refers to the antidote base wisdom, which is named from the perspective of what is to be abandoned. Saying that Bodhisattvas have the union of omniscience refers to its cause. Saying the nature of the three wisdoms, etc., refers to having the yoga of meditating on the three unborn. Saying that Buddhas have the nature of the three wisdoms, etc., refers only to realizing the three types of base, antidote, and kind as they are, and does not refer to having a nature. For example, just as realizing the state of confusion as it is, but it does not become confused consciousness. Therefore, for the determined support, that is also from the accumulation path of the three vehicles, up to the path of no more learning, it is established as two types: base wisdom and path wisdom. The arguments cited by those who believe that base wisdom and path wisdom pervade the realization of the noble ones are not valid, and the indication of harming this is that it has already been extensively discussed in the context of determining the mother. If the first two wisdoms are not the realization of the noble ones, then omniscience is not either, and those who say the same believe that those two are the realization of omniscience.
