Since the four determinations of the fourth "ground" also transform into four connections each, discard the statement that the second is twenty and the fourth is thirty-five. Therefore, even for such words that the Paṇḍita did not equally establish, without contemplation, scholars also in their respective commentaries, from the beginning, say things like thirty-six as if echoing, seeing this, I strive. If it is not like this, what can be done by merely refuting and examining this? Therefore, the connections in which the Ornament explains the Sutra are not actually present, but are implied, and the teachers have clearly arranged these according to circumstances. Those that are not arranged, but are obtained through meaning, can be understood by examining them yourself. The answer to the refutation is: Because the Dharma realm has no distinctions. And, things are inexpressible. And, other dharmas also exist. And so on, some are shown directly, and most are shown implicitly, and the teachers have also made them clear. Because refutation and answer are two, it will not excessively become six branches of the method of explanation. In the Commentary on Reasoning, it says: Refutation and answer are made into one, for the sake of the meaning of answering the refutation. Therefore, why are five branches needed to explain the Sutra in this way? In the Commentary on Reasoning, it says: After hearing the great meaning of the Sutra, for listening and holding, because the listener is respectful, it is necessary to first state the necessity. That is accomplished, that comes from the condensed meaning. The condensed meaning comes from the meaning of the words. The order of reasoning is not contradictory before and after, it comes from the two. It is like this. By stating the connection, the order of the words is all related. By stating the refutation and answer, the reasoning and before and after are not contradictory. Through these, it has been said how the Ornament explains the Sutra with what meaning. Now, the order in which the commentary explains the Ornament will be explained. First, in the eight verses that begin the writing of the commentary, the necessity of writing the commentary is explained in order with one, four, one, one, and one, along with prostration. How the previous teachers divided the treatises. Showing the rarity of obtaining the Prajñāpāramitā and praising it. Because it is obtained through the power of the Mother Buddha, in order to repay the kindness, the reason for distinguishing the Mother Buddha in the nature of offering as practice, or oneself

Having found it in a complete state, it explains the reasons for encouraging others to write, and the differences in writing with self-deprecation. Then, through five methods of explanation, it elucidates the verses of praise and the two verses that show the necessary connection. Then, it only points out the connection between the fifteen verses of the condensed meaning and the extensive sutra, and only points out the condensation and the expansion from it, indicating that the meaning of these needs to be referred to the explanation below. Then, it explains the eight chapters presented in order, and then the six chapters, and then the three chapters arranged. Having thus explained the root text, from the eight verses, in the order of two, two, one, one, one, it sequentially explains summarizing the meaning of the sutra, stating one's own name and how it was written, dedicating the merit, because the Prajnaparamita is profound, not my realm, but the realm of the noble ones, and apologizing for the faults shown, etc., in clear words. There, there is no explanation for the last verse. The Western Gate School believes that the first two verses become the adornment of all, then one is necessary, then one is the form of the vow of writing, then one is dedication, then two are humility, and finally, stating the difference of realization is very good. The second part has three: the act of engaging in writing, the nature of the text to be written, and the manner of completing the writing. The first part has two: writing commentary, and engaging in writing the root text. The first part has five: paying homage with necessity, how the previous teachers divided the text, showing the greatness of one's own intelligence, advising others to write with reason, and humbly stating the cause of writing. The first is: directly saying "Homage," meaning to pay utmost respect. Some people explain "Homage" as joining palms and "paying" as offering, explaining them separately is wrong, because that would cause there to be no homage of body, speech, and mind. To whom is homage paid? To the Prajnaparamita. The Prajnaparamita will be explained, and the word "to," just like watering trees for the sake of trees, saying watering to trees, so paying homage for the sake of Prajnaparamita, therefore saying paying homage to it, is the fourth case of purpose. How to pay homage? All three doors of body, speech, and mind
