Because there is no other possibility. To whom? To the Prajñāpāramitā. The Prajñāpāramitā will be explained, just as drawing water for trees is called drawing water to the trees. Prostrating to the Prajñāpāramitā is called prostrating to it, which is the fourth case for the purpose. How to prostrate? Through the three doors of body, speech, and mind with reverence, or through extreme joy in the heart. For what purpose? There are two purposes here, the purpose for oneself is, as stated in the *Great Play Sutra*: "The ripening of merit brings happiness, eliminating all suffering. The thoughts of people endowed with merit will also be accomplished. After destroying the Maras, one will quickly attain enlightenment. Obtain the peaceful and cool state beyond sorrow." Like this, because of prostrating to the special object—the Prajñāpāramitā—immeasurable merit is generated in the continuum, and through its power, non-merit is transformed, obstacles are pacified, and thus the composition is completed. The purpose for others is that, in the world, the holy ones first make prostrations and offerings to special objects when they begin to engage in great deeds. Here too, because it is said to be offering to the Mother, it will enable those to be tamed to recognize "This is a holy one." A deeper purpose is that when the author is recognized as a holy one, one will think, "The Prajñāpāramitā to which this holy one prostrates is also desired by the holy ones, therefore it is also holy." In this way, the faithful will enter into this treatise that takes the Mother as its object of explanation. Having prostrated in this way, what does one want to do? In order to distinguish or wanting to distinguish the chapters of the ornate words of that Prajñāpāramitā. Among them, ornament is the name of a metaphor. For example, the natural ornament is a beautiful figure, the decorative ornament is adorned with bracelets and so on, the manifest ornament is appearing in mirrors and so on, seeing these will cause people to generate joy. Here too, the natural ornament is the beautiful body of the Mother, the decorative ornament is adorned with seventy meanings, the manifest ornament is appearing in this treatise, therefore it can cause the wise to generate joy, so it is an ornament. As stated in the *Ornament of the Sutras*: "A form ornament endowed with inherent qualities, reflected in a mirror. By the power of seeing, it generates the supreme joy of people. Similarly, well-spoken words are always endowed with inherent qualities. The Dharma also, by analyzing the meanings, causes the wise to generate supreme joy here."

Thus it is. In terms of verses, in both commentaries, it is said that "it is composed of verses called 'Subsequent Praise'," and "the name of the verse is based on four lines and eight syllables," and so on, which are consistent. In terms of differentiation, it is to differentiate the meaning slightly, which is to vow to compose. Then, what is the need to do this? As it is said in the Wisdom Tree: "Noble people do not easily make vows, but if they make vows because of difficulties, it is like drawing on a stone, and even if they die, they will not change." As this says, it is for the sake of completing the work. Then, what is the need for the differentiation itself? Because the sutra, the path, the fruit, and the nature of the Prajnaparamita are all, or rather, it is for the sake of being able to understand the adornment of all the extensive, intermediate, and concise. If it is said that because this work itself has already become an adornment, there is no need to make it an adornment, then there is no fault. Because even though the bracelets of men and women have already become adornments, if they are stained with dirt, they cannot produce the need for adornment, that is, they cannot bring joy. Just as the adornment of adornment is to remove dirt, the adornment that makes the wise happy is the verses themselves. Although it has already been shown, due to not understanding or misunderstanding, it is thought that this work does not clarify the meaning of the Mother Buddha, therefore it is not an adornment, and the dirt of slander may arise. To this, the teacher, with direct and clear language, created a commentary that is clear in meaning and fluent in words, and by eliminating those dirt, it becomes an adornment, therefore this is the adornment of adornment. Just as the teacher Kashi said: "Because it eliminates the bad dirt of slander, therefore this is the adornment of Madhyamaka." This is in accordance with this. Whatever, because it is the cause of higher rebirth and definite goodness, therefore the eight realizations are the adornment of the Mother Buddha, and like explaining the adornment of all the Abhidhamma Pitaka, according to the former saying, even the words "its adornment is verses" are not seen, and the latter saying is also contrary to the author's intention. Thus, these verses also explain the object of the commentary, the need, the ultimate need, and the connection. Among them, the first is the Abhisamayalankara, because it is the object to be explained. The second is the Mother.
