Merely teaching the Dharma. Bodhisattvas study the twenty emptinesses, wanting to know all the minute particles of the four elements of the three thousand worlds, and so on. This shows that in order to praise the Bodhisattva's knowledge of emptiness as it is, as well as the knowledge of the number of minute particles, and the greatness of generosity, these are taught. The fifteenth is having supernatural powers, like a great king, because the power is unobstructed, just to accomplish the benefit of others. A Bodhisattva, with one thought of enlightenment, can cross all beings in the ten directions, can lift all the water of the three thousand worlds with the tips of a hundred hairs, and will not harm the beings living there, can extinguish the fire of the end of the kalpa with one breath, can cover the wind of the destructive kalpa with the tip of one finger, can fill all the space of the three thousand worlds with one cross-legged posture, can wrap all the mountains of the three thousand worlds with one hair, and then lift them up and throw them beyond the immeasurable worlds, can observe all the Tathagatas of the ten directions with the divine eye, and hear their Dharma with the divine ear, can know the minds of sentient beings, can remember their past lives, wanting to manifest the uncontaminated superknowledge, not wanting to manifest the true limit, and so on. This shows that by means of the excellent power, the benefit of others is accomplished, so these are taught. The sixteenth is having the accumulation of merit and wisdom, like a treasure house, because the two accumulations of merit and wisdom are like a treasure house of many treasures. Bodhisattvas use one offering and flowers, etc., to respect all the Tathagatas of the ten directions, as well as the Sangha of Shravakas and Bodhisattvas, wanting to place all the sentient beings of the ten directions between the uncontaminated five aggregates, the four fruits, the Pratyekabuddha aggregates, and the Nirvana without remainder, and so on. Among them, the first sentence shows merit, and the second sentence shows the accumulation of wisdom, so these are taught. The seventeenth is having the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, like a great path, all the noble ones

Everything passes away and follows after, because the great bodhisattva wishes to attain all the qualities of all the Buddhas of the three times, past, present, and future. This passage symbolizes the path of the Buddhas of the three times and is spoken to show the path of all the noble ones of the three times. Among them, the former is explained as all the noble ones passing away with companions, while those with companions are only the noble ones of the Great Vehicle who pass away. Eighteenth, compassion that single-mindedly dwells on benefiting others, and the superior insight that possesses the realization of the absence of inherent nature of phenomena, are like a good mount, not falling into either the extremes of samsara or nirvana, easily going to the place of non-abiding, because the great bodhisattva wishes to go before all the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, and to become a retinue among all the Buddhas, and so on. This passage is to show how to learn the conduct of a bodhisattva, such as going to enlightenment before entering the Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha paths. Nineteenth, possessing the dharani that retains words and meanings without forgetting, and the fearlessness to explain to others without obstruction, is like artificially drawn water, being able to show inexhaustible treasures of Dharma by remembering the Dharma that has been heard, not heard, and will be heard in the past, because all the sutras spoken, being spoken, and to be spoken by the Buddhas, the Bhagavat of the ten directions, such as the teachings proclaimed in sutras and songs, prophecies, and even those established definitively, and all the Dharma that the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas have not heard, are all desired to be remembered and widely proclaimed to others. The difference between a spring and artificially drawn water is that, on the ground itself, a spring is water that naturally springs from the ground, while artificially drawn water is water that is drawn from a high place. Twentieth, being able to enjoy the feast of Dharma with the realization of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and peace in the four nirvanas for all conditioned and defiled phenomena, is like a pleasant musical instrument, because for the disciples who desire liberation, through the path of "all conditioned things are impermanent, all defiled things are suffering, all phenomena are selfless, and nirvana is peace," the Dharma is proclaimed with beautiful sounds, because in each of the ten directions, for a long time, there has been darkness.
