After inviting Dipankara, he explained the generation of aspiration, and Indian scholars also followed this reasoning. Secondly, there are those born from conventional terms and those born from the power of meditation. The former is as stated in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "The power of friends, the power of causes, and the power of roots, the power of hearing, the power of good habits, what is born from them, the unstable and the stable, are said to be the mind of enlightenment taught by others." Among them, the mind of enlightenment that is taught by others and arises from the expression of others' words is the mind of enlightenment taken from conventional terms, and its arising also has many ways. What arises from the power of friends is like a spiritual friend. What arises from the power of causes is the power of lineage and the power of roots of virtue, that is, the lineage is vast, and the power of much hearing, and the power of good habits, that is, what arises from constantly listening, holding, and so on in this life. Among them, the former is unstable, and the remaining four are stable. The latter is as stated in the Ornament for Clear Realization: "All Buddhas are made extremely happy, accumulations of merit and wisdom are accumulated, because wisdom without discrimination towards the Dharma is born, it is thought to be supreme. Because of the Dharma and sentient beings, and because of their actions, the mind is equally attained in the ultimate, therefore, that extreme joy is particularly superior." Among them, the first line of the first verse shows receiving the holy teachings, the second line shows accomplishing the excellent cause, and the third line shows the difference of realizing the excellent understanding, and these three differences show that the mind of enlightenment is the ultimate truth. Moreover, because of obtaining the Extremely Joyful Ground, it shows the cause of that extreme joy being particularly superior, among which, those who have equal minds towards the Dharma, sentient beings, Buddhas, and the actions of sentient beings, in order, are realizing the selflessness of phenomena, and the equality of self and others, and the non-duality of the Buddha and one's own Dharma realm, and wanting to end the suffering of others as if it were one's own. The Intermediate Stages of Meditation also speaks of the difference between the conventional and ultimate minds, as it says: "The mind of enlightenment has two types, namely conventional and ultimate. Among them, the conventional is to vow to liberate all sentient beings with compassion, and for the benefit of sentient beings, wanting to become a Buddha."

Thinking for a moment, one generates the mind of aspiring to unsurpassable, perfectly complete enlightenment. Furthermore, according to the ritual described in the chapter on discipline, it should be generated from a wise person who abides in the vows of a Bodhisattva. Having thus generated the conventional Bodhicitta, one should strive to generate the ultimate Bodhicitta. What is the ultimate Bodhicitta? It is that which transcends the world, is free from all elaborations, is extremely clear, is the object of ultimate reality, is immaculate and unwavering, and is as immovable as the flame of a lamp in the absence of wind. Its accomplishment comes from constantly and respectfully cultivating the yoga of calm abiding and insight for a long time, and from this transformation. The Stages of Meditation by Vimalamitra also explains it in the same way. Thirdly, in the Ornament it says: The generation of the mind on the grounds, aspiration and excellence, maturation and other, thus abandoning all obscurations. It is said. Among these, on the ground of practice of aspiration, it arises from aspiration; on the first seven grounds, it is pure excellence; on the eighth ground and the three others, it is maturation; and on the ground of Buddhahood, it is the generation of the mind that has abandoned obscurations. In the Great Commentary it says: At first it is placed on the four parts conforming to discrimination, but it is better to start from the path of accumulation. Here some say that the Buddha has no generation of the mind, and if there were, it would have to be like a cloud, but there is none, as the Ornament says: The generation of the mind of the Buddha's sons, is shown to be like a cloud. If one says so, there is no fault. Because the Buddha's sons have it, it does not preclude the Buddha from having it. One can also consider the generation of the mind that the Buddha's sons should attain, otherwise it would contradict the previous ground boundaries, and it would be too extreme, and even the ultimate generation of the mind would not be established. If one says that the Buddha has desire, then it becomes a conceptual thought, which is unreasonable? There is no fault in this. As the Moonlight Sutra says: If so, how does the mind that goes together with the conceptual thought of seeking meaning arise in the Bhagavan? Truly, seeking meaning is the dharma of the agent who seeks meaning, as it should be known, it is the previous individual minds. One should know the meaning of seeking, and what is to be desired.
