In the language of the Indian wise ones, the name of this treatise is between Abhi and Bhrati. If translated into Tibetan, it is between "Knowing" and "Explanation." Among them, Abhisamaya is Realization, Alamkara is Ornament, Nama is Named, Prajnaparamita is Perfection of Wisdom, Upadesha is Instruction, Shastra is Treatise, and Bhrati is Explanation. Second, the Perfection of Wisdom is the root sutra of this treatise. Instruction is to make the meaning of the sutra easy to understand. The treatise, Realization, and Ornament will be explained. Named is announcing the name. Explanation is to explain mainly the latter of the two, words and meaning. Third, faith arises in the Dharma, imprints are left on the language, and blessings arise in the continuum. This is saying the former, and the latter prevents it. However, initially, it cannot be translated unless it is orally transmitted by the guru, and at the beginning of Tibetan treatises, there is no place to use Indian language at will. This seems to be to indicate the source of the Dharma. The second part has two: one is the number of volumes as a standard for measuring the length of the treatise, and the other is the prostration as a standard for the completion of the translation. First, a volume is the name for collecting many parts of the treatise together. For example, just as many parts of grass or trees are collected together, and are called bundles or volumes. The first volume is the beginning of the five volumes and will be explained. The number of verses in each volume is different, but here it is three hundred verses per volume. Because the Indian original has five hundred verses, divided into five volumes. This was also done by the great translators to avoid exaggeration or belittling of the length of the treatise, which was not in the Indian original. Second, recite the words "Prostration." To whom do we prostrate? To those who have awakened because the sleep of ignorance has been interrupted, just like waking up from sleep; and because correct wisdom has destroyed the closure of ignorance, and the wisdom of the knowable has increased, just like a lotus flower blooming; to all such Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Just as it is said in the "Seventy Verses on Refuge": Wisdom increases for the knowable, because the closure of ignorance is destroyed, the Buddha blooms like a lotus. And, the sleep of ignorance is cut off, true wisdom is definitely born.

Like so on. Whoever fully awakens is the Buddha, just like a person waking up from sleep. So it is said. Therefore, the sound of "Buddha" refers to both awakening and the blooming of a lotus, as the ancient translators stated in the 'Two Chapters on Sound Explanation.' Thus, the Buddha has the dual meaning of awakening and lotus blooming, and for this reason, it is translated as "Buddha" in summary. Therefore, whoever, because of awakening from the sleep of ignorance, and because of the expansion of wisdom on the objects of knowledge, awakens and becomes a Buddha like a lotus, is called Buddha. Such is the citation, but the wording is not smooth, and the meaning of the third line also has flaws. What caused it? Initially by the translators, and later by the speakers and listeners, etc. The necessity, method, and time are obvious. Here, the former ones, at the beginning of the Vinaya, are "Omniscient One," in the Sutras, "Buddha Bodhisattva," and in the Abhidharma, they prostrate to "Manjushri Kumara" and request instruction. This was determined by the translator and pandit, so it is said that this is the salutation for recognizing the three pitakas. However, later scholars have raised many uncertain reasons for this, believing that the translator paid homage to the deity he himself believed in. However, observing the Vinaya, Abhidharma, and most of the Sutras translated in the past, there is this definite statement, so although it is uncertain in later generations, it seems that this regulation existed during the time of the early Dharma Kings. Second, there are two parts: the general outline and the explanation of the actual text. The first is that at the beginning of explaining the text, if the boundaries of each part of the text to be explained are marked, and it is revealed how the text explains its own root, then, like a horse indicating the target, it will prevent the minds of the speaker and listener from being confused, and it will be possible to clearly distinguish each point. Therefore, here too, we will explain in what way the root explains the sutra, and the order in which the commentary explains the root. As it is said in the 'Commentary on Reasoning': "Those who speak of the meaning of the sutra should have necessity and summarized meaning, as well as word meaning and connection, and also have refutation and response." It is said that the sutra is explained with the five branches of the method of explanation. This is the oral transmission of Maitreya Thus, when Maitreya taught the sutra, he also used the five methods of explanation, namely, the meaning of necessity, the summarized meaning, and the meaning of words.
