Refutation. First, in the instructions, saying "practice" and so on, and explaining the four practices, this is too much, because the undifferentiated practice is repeatedly explained. If you say so, there is no fault, because the first is spoken from the aspect of what is to be expressed in the instructions, and the second is the nature and differentiation of the practice itself. Even so, are the application of the basis knowledge and the application of all aspects repeated? They are not repeated, because the first is to meditate after realizing the basis as unborn, it is to avert the application of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers and generate it, and the second is to meditate after combining the three unborns. Second, in the All-Knowing, explaining twenty types of individuals, and in the Path Knowledge, "becoming hazy," and "a path like a rhinoceros horn with a basis," and "in all aspects, especially for the Buddhas," and "the assembly of learners who do not turn back," are these repeated? They are not repeated, because the first is the Sangha at the time of explaining the Three Jewels, the second is the basis for the arising of Path Knowledge, the third is the basis for the path of the Solitary Realizer, the fourth is the vessel for listening to the Mother Prajñāpāramitā, and the fifth is for identifying the basis of non-retrogression. Here, it is not appropriate to cite the basis of practice and thereby eliminate the repetition of individuals, because its basis is a category of non-individuals. If you say that there is no fault because it is related to the category, then in that case, all realizations are also related to individuals, so all of these must be applied to eliminate the repetition of individuals, which is too much. Third, the conceptualizations of the path of application of the All-Knowing, and the conceptualizations to be abandoned of the seeing and meditation of the Peak Application, explaining each set of four, are these repeated? They are not repeated, because the first is taught as a characteristic of the Mahāyāna path of application, and the second and third are taught as what is to be abandoned on the path of seeing and the path of meditation, respectively. The explanation of the eight conceptualizations of spiritual friends is also not repeated, because it is taught for the purpose of realizing the distinctions of spiritual friends. Fourth, are the repeated explanations of the path of meditation in various sections repeated? In the Path Knowledge, it is said that all paths should be generated and the true extreme should not be manifested, therefore not abiding in the two extremes, and in the All Aspects, it is said that the path of meditation is profound, which is a sign of non-retrogression, and explained in the Peak Application.

Furthermore, since it is explained from the aspect of counteracting what is to be abandoned in meditation, it is not repetitive. Similarly, those that are merely names, explained as the final instruction and relatives, etc., should also be understood. What is not named should also be understood in the context of bodhicitta and lineage, and in the assemblies of grounds, etc. This principle should also be applied in the context of the two lower paths. Fifth, if someone asks: Are the repeatedly mentioned paths of seeing in the various contexts repetitive? In the second context, it is the path of seeing that does not abide in the two extremes; in the third context, it is the transcendence of the ground of the Lesser Vehicle; in the fourth context, the saying that acceptance of the path of seeing is from the perspective of non-retrogression; the explanation as a characteristic is that it is superior to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers; in the fifth context, since it is explained from the aspect of counteracting conceptualization, it is not repetitive. Sixth, if someone asks: Are the repeatedly taught paths of joining in the various contexts also repetitive? In omniscience, it is explained that the object, aspect, and three causes are complete, and that it possesses the six distinctions of the great, middling, and small complete holding of the Dharma conceptualization. In the second context, in the context of the Hearer's path, the object is focused on forms, etc., and the aspect is inseparable from emptiness, etc.; in the context of the Solitary Realizer's path, the object is focused on all phenomena being merely imputed, and the aspect is the aspect of showing the nature of phenomena without contradicting imputation, etc. Therefore, these three paths of joining, the later ones are different from the earlier ones in terms of object and aspect, so they are not repetitive. What is explained in "In all aspects, they are the warmths," etc., is that the object is sentient beings, and the aspect is mental equality, etc., and since the object is different, it is not repetitive. The previous prevention of repetition of the path of seeing and these two was done by the Noble One, and therefore, through this principle, the difference between the path of meditation and conceptualization should also be understood, as it is said. Among them, the path of joining explained in the fifth context is in the manner of obtaining power through the peak joining, so it is not repetitive. Here, the Noble One said that it is superior with six distinctions, therefore, based on error, it is considered superior in the style of the Noble One, with small, middling, and great. Moreover, if it is said that the supreme Dharma of the Lesser Vehicle has only one moment, that is not correct. If that were the case, it would become superior with six distinctions merely from the supreme Dharma of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, and the two paths of joining that the Noble One explained in the second context are also the later ones compared to the earlier ones.
