Entering and returning, and also related to the treatise itself, becoming what is desired by the holy ones, and it is necessary to explain that the desired purpose can be accomplished through the methods shown therein, after this general explanation. Some consider it the basis, others consider it the antidote, and still others consider it the nature, thus first making a proposition, and then answering according to the first viewpoint onwards. If so, it is not even considered that this and the Ornament of Realization are contradictory, because here too, like after investigation, if one admits it, faults will arise, because it does not prevent it. The second view is that some ancient people thought that they were following Asanga, Dharmapala, and Nagarjuna, but some people did not know their teachings well. Although it is possible to think so, it does not seem reasonable. Some people think that this is not really someone who thinks so, but a question raised to provoke suspicion, but if it is in accordance with the Ornament of Realization, it is clear that this situation has actually occurred. Then, is this directed at the sutras or the treatises? It is obvious that it is directed at the sutras. If so, then what is the relationship between raising this doubt in the treatises? Because the content explained by the treatises themselves is the content explained by the sutras, so there is a connection. The third view is that by prostrating to the three wisdoms and stating, one vows to write a treatise that makes the content explained by the sutras become the ornament of the three wisdoms, and for what purpose? The purpose is explained through purpose and connection. Then, is this Ornament of Realization adorned by summarizing the basis, or by summarizing the antidote, or by summarizing the nature? In order to ask what is summarized as the content to be explained as an ornament, so one argues about the treatise of vowing to write. The Ornament of Realization generally establishes the four necessities, etc., and in order to eliminate doubts about the content explained by the Eight Thousand Verses, one argues about the necessary connection. According to these two views, one establishes it in the context of the necessary connection, and in order to eliminate doubts about the content explained by the treatise, it should be summarized in that treatise. According to this commentary, the great master also combines it with the treatise of praise, and in the Hundred Thousand Verses and the Great Commentary, because it is combined with the necessary connection, and in order to identify the content to be explained, the necessary connection should be explained later. Although this is explained in this way, because the praise is derived from the vow to write, and it is established before the connection of the necessary connection, the former view is reasonable.

Saso. The fourth has two: refuting the actual and establishing one's own system. First, if composing an ornament, then are the bases, aggregates, elements, and sense fields just these? Are the antidotes, the paths, just these? Are the aspects, the specific characteristics of phenomena, just these that are collected as the subject matter? If it is like the first, then there is nothing to say that has not been said in the Abhidharma, and if one explains what has been said, then the ornament and the Abhidharma are redundant. If it is like the second, if one only explains the antidote, then relying on the ornament, one will not understand what the antidote is for what is to be abandoned. If one explains it together with what is to be abandoned, then even for one thing like craving, one must explain the self-cause, the six faculties, the six objects as the objective cause, the causal condition, the alaya, the primary six consciousnesses, and the accompanying mental factors, and one must explain their basis, so one will not escape the first fault. If it is like the third, if one only collects aspects without a basis, then it will become that the meaning needed by a person is not explained. If one collects it with a basis, then it will become the fault of arranging the collected basis. If one collects all three, then it is not something that is established as the body of a treatise, or it will be the fault that all three faults are present. Having stated this, the answer is: sugar cane, pepper, and long pepper. If one eats them separately, then they will sequentially cause phlegm, bile, and wind. But if one eats these three mixed together, then no disease will arise. Similarly, if one collects all three as the subject matter, then there will be no fault of any one of them. This is how it is explained. One should say to this: if one accepts the way one examined the previous position, will those faults arise or not? If it is like the second, in the appearance of the ornament, if it is like the first position, then it contradicts what is made into one's own system below. And like the three medicines causing disease if eaten separately, even if one separately accepts the three examinations, there is no fault, so the example and the meaning do not match. And one oneself does not want it, and even if one wants it, there is no fault in collecting any one of the three. Having stated this, one would have to say that even if one collects any one, there is no fault, so it is not reasonable. If it is like the first, one oneself wants the base, antidote, and aspect to be collected as the subject matter, but to establish faults on whether the base has been explained in the Abhidharma or not, whether the antidote is together with what is to be abandoned or not, and whether the aspect is related to the base or not, both of which are collected as the subject matter, is a joke. Second, in the appearance of the ornament, some say that in order to distinguish phenomena, one should collect all the bases as the subject matter.
