This sutra proclaims the ten things to be cultivated, which are consistent with the means of cultivation and the basis. Third, it should be known. As what? As complete cultivation. How is it done? By realizing that these ten dharmas have nothing to be clung to in their own nature. This is a symbol, that is, in the conventional truth, it is also necessary to cling to it like an illusion. In the "Perfectly Pure Sutra" it says: How to transform? Through skill in means. What is that? That is, truly relying on the two truths, that is, relying on the conventional truth in order to completely cultivate, and relying on the ultimate truth in order to see them without difference. So on and so forth. The latter two verses are a summary of the cultivation of non-attachment to each of the ten dharmas from the sutra. This should also be known in the remaining grounds, as explained in the commentary. The second part is divided into two points: the nature of each complete cultivation, and the way to transform into complete cultivation. The first point is: The word "is" is said as a conjunction. The word "is" refers to the meaning of indicating each complete cultivation from the general explanation of complete cultivation. The rest are also the same. Completely cultivating the higher intention refers to the way of generating bodhicitta for the benefit of others at the beginning, without exceeding such order, for the basis or cause of enlightenment, that is, all the practice of virtue, having the thought of not taking one's own benefit as important, without the attention of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Complete cultivation also applies to all the following situations. Or, "as it is" refers to the order of the fundamental numbers, and the commentary will also explain it in this way. Both the sutra and the Ornament for Clear Realization say to practice all virtues, so it is wrong to say that the basis is all sentient beings. The actual benefit is to seek the omniscient wisdom that benefits oneself and others for the benefit of all sentient beings, and for that cause, to hold the Dharma of the Great Vehicle. Equanimity towards sentient beings refers to having the bodhicitta of the Great Vehicle towards all sentient beings, therefore, by practicing the four immeasurables, the mind is single-pointed, without partiality. Among the two pure moons, the former is the hope to benefit sentient beings, and this one is declared as that cause. Giving refers to giving all possessions with the yoga of non-conceptualizing the three wheels. Relying on a spiritual friend refers to a virtuous spiritual friend who encourages one towards omniscience.

Making all beings rejoice, and seeking the goal of the true Dharma is: with the intention of omniscience, not considering it sufficient to be satisfied with only a part such as the Hearer Vehicle, but wanting to seek the goal of the true Dharma belonging to the three vehicles, and not falling into the two grounds, and the constant mind of renunciation is: seeing that living at home is the basis of many sufferings, therefore not being happy to live there, and in all lifetimes, ordaining in the teachings of the Tathagata (Sanskrit: Tathāgata), and there is no obstacle to this, and wanting to obtain the Buddha body is joy: wanting to accomplish the supreme Buddha body, and seeing it, in all times before becoming a Buddha, not being separated from intention, and the previous "constant" is also added here. Here, the sutra says "the desire for the Buddha body is completely subdued", so it is better to translate it as "desire body". Some treatises say "understanding the body", and "investing in the body", according to this, the first is understanding, that is, rejoicing when seeing, the latter is putting the mind into that body and contemplating it, the sutra says that after seeing the Tathagata, until obtaining omniscience, one is not separated from contemplation. Great fame refers to: explaining the desire for the Buddha, that is, the Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. Teaching the Dharma refers to: from beginning to end, truly expounding the wonderful Dharma of the twelve divisions of scripture, and true words refer to: speaking the truth without deceiving others as promised, these should be added after each word. The second is: able to obtain. Where? Because it is the basis of merit. The first of the ten numbers is called "Extremely Joyful". Why is it called that? "Approaching Bodhi, seeing the accomplishment of the benefit of beings, great joy will arise, therefore it is called Extremely Joyful." Like this. Through what? Through the ten complete subduings with such characteristics as mentioned above. How can it become the complete subduing of the first ground? By realizing that the ten differences in the cause of complete subduing do not cling to any real nature, thereby recognizing these differences, only through the complete subduing with characteristics can that ground be obtained, but not through the complete subduing that does not cling to and does not recognize emptiness.
