The power of smoke should be known. As stated in 'Clear Words'. Seventh, the ultimate result is the Buddha-ground, and the temporary result is the subsequent grounds. Third, it is explained in terms of words and meanings. The second has two parts: connecting the context and actually explaining the collection of grounds. The first is: it has been said. Such as "Where is it?" etc. Although there are only twenty-two ways to show purification, the verse of the fruit ground is summarized here because it is not convenient to separate them when connecting the common parts, so it is discarded. What is the need? Which of the nine grounds will become the Dharma of purification? Where is it? It is in the collection of grounds, that is, at that time. The connection of the Sutra is: in the answer to the second of the five questions of general instruction, how does a great Bodhisattva enter the Great Vehicle? It is said: Subhuti, this great Bodhisattva practices the six perfections, rising from ground to ground, that is, gradually entering through the ten ways of becoming the main part of the ten grounds, including generosity, etc. This is said through the way of indicating the qualities of the fruit or basis of the ground. What is derived from the establishment of entry and the establishment of collection is the difference between the Sutra and the Ornament. The second has two parts: the purification of the nine causal grounds and the nature of the ten resultant grounds. The first has nine parts: the purification of the first ground, the second ground, the third ground, the fourth ground, the fifth ground, the sixth ground, the seventh ground, the eighth ground, and the ninth ground. The first has two parts: the root and the explanation. The first has three parts: brief explanation, detailed explanation, and the way of purification. The first is: with ten kinds of purification, it is the method of attainment. The ground is the first to be attained. The way to attain it is: some people think that, as in "will be attained" etc., and in the fifth and seventh grounds it is said to abandon the ten non-virtues and attachment to self and sentient beings, etc., therefore they think that attaining what has not been attained is the method of attainment, but this is not reasonable. Because "will be attained" etc. is a summary of the meaning of "the Bodhisattva abiding in the first ground should practice these purifications" in the Sutra, and for the eight Dharmas of the remaining grounds, it is also said that abiding in that ground one should practice this, one should not practice this, and because in that ground there is the bad situation of abandoning non-virtue and attachment to self etc. Then, in order to make the attained one superior, purify and attain that ground.

It is shown by the name of transformation. In the Ornament of Manifestation, it says: Regarding this ground, as long as the dharmas that should be completely purified are not perfected, this ground is this ground. If it is completely perfected, then it should be known as another ground. Here, what is to be purified is these grounds. Through what means? By increasing the qualities of each ground and eliminating the faults, as appropriate. Through what? Through the wisdom that does not fixate on the ten kinds of differences of causes, etc. In another way, the grounds are taken as the basis for purification, and the two, qualities and faults, are taken as the objects to be purified. The meaning of purifying qualities is like purifying a mansion, making it complete. The meaning of purifying faults is like removing the tarnish from a jewel, eliminating it. Therefore, this brief explanation from the perspective of number should also be understood in relation to the remaining grounds, each according to its own context. In the sutra, for the nine grounds, the number of dharmas is mentioned, saying, "This and this should be done, this and this should not be done," because the sutra speaks in two ways, brief explanation and detailed explanation. Among them, for some grounds, it is said that complete purification is little, and for some grounds, it is said that complete purification is much, which depends only on the different minds of the beings to be tamed. For some grounds, it is explained in terms of abandoning what should be abandoned and generating antidotes, which I think also implies the grounds that are not explained. The second is the two verses beginning with "thought," that is, completely purifying the higher intention in a non-fixated way; because of not fixating on characteristics, completely purifying beneficial things; because of not fixating on sentient beings, completely purifying the equality of mind towards all sentient beings; because of not fixating on giving, bestowing, and receiving, completely purifying giving; in order not to generate pride because of this, completely purifying reliance on a virtuous friend; because of not fixating on all dharmas, completely purifying the search for dharma; because of not fixating on home, completely purifying repeated arising; because of not fixating on marks and excellent signs, completely purifying desire for the body of the Buddha; because of not fixating on the distinctions of dharmas, completely purifying the detailed explanation of dharmas; because of not fixating on words, completely purifying truthful words, and so on.
