Some scholars say that it is possible to meditate on the selflessness of the three realms in sequence, and to abandon the Dharma and co-born in sequence. This statement is very popular, and it can also be said that this is to comply with those statements. If you cannot understand this point of view, and say that it is wrong to establish the abandonment of the Hearers on the Bodhisattva, then it is just imposing your own mental defilements on others. Second, in the Compendium of Decisions, it says: Is it to abandon the pervasive clinging, or to abandon the latent sleep? From where can it be called abandonment if it is abandoned? Answer: It is to abandon from the latent sleep, because the pervasive clinging has already been abandoned from the beginning. Abandoning latent sleep can be called abandonment. Why? Because if the pervasive clinging is abandoned but the latent sleep is not abandoned, then the pervasive clinging will occur again and again; if the latent sleep is abandoned, then neither the latent sleep nor the pervasive clinging will occur again. Like this. Then, of the three times to be abandoned, which one is abandoned? The Compendium of Categories says: The past is not because it has ceased; the future is not because it has not yet been born; the present is not because it is not compatible with the path. However, it is necessary to abandon from the aspect of the evil realms, that is, the aspect of the antidote to the aspect of the evil realms arises, and the aspect of the evil realms ceases is simultaneous, just like the arising and ceasing of light and darkness. Its meaning is that the manifested past and future do not exist because they have been destroyed and have not yet been born, so there is no need to abandon them. The present does not exist simultaneously with the antidote, so there is no need to abandon the manifestation, but it is not contradictory that the seed of what is to be abandoned and the antidote exist simultaneously in the same continuum, so the evil realms must be abandoned. That is to say, the arising of the liberation path in that continuum and the cessation of what is to be abandoned are simultaneous, therefore the complete arising of the liberation path and the complete cessation of what is to be abandoned. In this way, when the liberation path of the nature of any of what is to be abandoned has arisen, the nature of what is to be abandoned does not exist in the continuum. The meaning of abandonment is that if the antidote does not arise, then the later generations similar to what is to be abandoned in that continuum will continue, because its power of arising will prevent the continuation of later generations.

Cessation is: The antidote is powerful, and with the power of arising, the vessel of the consciousness stream that was previously to be abandoned is transformed into a non-vessel, thereby making it impossible for the continuum of what is to be abandoned to arise. This is the meaning of abandonment. As the *Compendium of Topics* says, "Because it is separated from the aspect of bad states, the nature of the dharma that does not give rise to afflictions in the future is abandonment." The *Treasury of Knowledge* says that what is liberated arises, the non-learning mind of the future is liberated, and by what is abandoned, it is extinguished, and the present path abandons the obscurations. As the *Treasury of Knowledge* says: "The non-learning mind is what arises, it is liberated from the obscurations. By the path of extinction, its obscurations are completely abandoned." Some people think that the extinction of the antidote and the extinction of what is to be abandoned are simultaneous, but this is not the point. In the *Explication of the Thought Sutra*, it says, "Then is the past, future, or present mind liberated? The future mind that is arising, the non-learning is liberated from the obscurations. When it arises, what is the state of the path that abandons the obscurations? It is the state of extinction, which is the present." As the self-commentary says, "Extinction is the manifestation of tending towards extinction, which is the present, and this is its definition." If the arising of the antidote and the extinction of what is to be abandoned are simultaneous, then when the great perfection of the yoga path arises completely, all the last to be cultivated must be extinguished, so in the end all obscurations must be abandoned, because there are no obscurations that are not to be seen and cultivated. This is not possible, because even on the ground of the Buddha there are two very subtle ignorances and one of their bad states, as stated in the *Explication of the Thought Sutra*. Moreover, the *Ornament of the Sutras* also says that there is a covering of obscurations on that ground, and the *Collected Determinations* also says that the defiled bad state is: Even though the latent tendencies have been abandoned, they were previously produced by defilements and completely perfumed by defilements, and in a way that is similar to this, it is not possible to act, and its nature is bad, and the entry of badness is the most subtle, and it is the smallest. The defiled bad state is called the latent tendencies of the afflictions, and the Arhats and solitary Buddhas have not abandoned it, but only the Tathagata has abandoned it. Its habit
