will be explained. The second part is divided into three parts, the first part is: Based on understanding, it explains the confirmation of the second entry, because entry occurs after understanding and dividing as previously explained, so it is the order of meaning. The connection of the Sutra is: Shariputra asked what is entering the Mahayana and climbing the Mahayana, and the answer is that the first five are entering the Mahayana, and the remaining four are explained with the word climbing. The second part is: Should be understood. Where? It is the confirmation of entry. Where? It is the climbing of the Mahayana. So what is the meaning of entry and climbing? These two are said to be synonyms in the "Sunlight", and in the "Ornament Sutra Commentary" they are said to be entry and abiding, initially obtaining and later becoming special. What is the place of entry, the Mahayana? It is the nine, such as meditation and formlessness. That can also be summarized into three types: mundane and supramundane, and the path that distinguishes these two from non-Mahayana. The first is meditation and formlessness. The second is divided into two types: the path to confirm one's own benefit is giving, etc., and the path of seeing, etc., the order is to obtain merit and eliminate obstacles. The path to confirm the benefit of others is immeasurable love, etc., and wisdom without attachment to objects, the order is to be happy for the benefit of others and to be skilled in accomplishing this. The third is: non-discrimination of the three wheels, intentionally doing meaningful things, and the six superknowledges are the difference of blessings. The result is: turning the wheel of Dharma after obtaining omniscience, as stated in the "Small Commentary". To this, some people think that meditation and formlessness also become the nature of the path of seeing and the path of cultivation, so practicing it cannot cover the world, and this Sutra says to practice the form of non-appearance, so it is unreasonable to explain it as a worldly path, even if someone argues that explaining it as a worldly path is not definitely saying this, but because this situation accounts for the majority in the worldly path. If it is not like this, then the path of the Bodhisattva will be covered by the transcendent path, because there is nothing that is not included by non-appearance. Thus, for those nine places, there are nine confirmations of entry, the first is: when the great Bodhisattva practices generosity paramita with the samadhi of meditation and formlessness, he equally abides with the form of space and signs and characteristics and

This dedication of the roots of virtue to perfect enlightenment is the perfection of generosity of the great Bodhisattva. The other five are also the same. Among them, the so-called aspect of space, etc., refers to not clinging to various aspects and characteristics, and contemplating like space. These three are also, in order, the three branches of what is to be abandoned in the lower grounds, abandonment, antidote, and benefit, or the three of tranquility and roughness, experiencing whatever feeling of bliss there is. The second is that the great Bodhisattva, with the thought possessing omniscience, thinks that in order to completely eliminate the afflictions of all sentient beings, he should teach the Dharma, which is the perfection of generosity of the great Bodhisattva. The remaining five are, in order, even if entering and emerging from meditative formlessness, not generating the mind of a Hearer or Solitary Realizer; with these two, thinking that the afflictions of sentient beings are exhausted, one should teach the Dharma, thinking and contemplating in this way is patience; at the time of the conduct of these two, not abandoning diligence for the sake of sentient beings and omniscience; even entering these two, not fixating; even if realizing impermanence, suffering, selflessness, peace, emptiness, signlessness in the branches of the four meditations, not having pride with these samadhis, these are what (the Buddha) said. The third is that the great vehicle of the great Bodhisattva is to cultivate the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment in all ways, to cultivate the three doors of liberation in all ways, and to cultivate the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical understandings, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha in all ways, Shariputra, this is the great vehicle of the great Bodhisattva. Thus, in all ways, three Pages 501 to 600 appearing refers to cultivating the aspect encompassed by the three wisdoms. The fourth is that the great Bodhisattva, without mixing with the samadhis of the immeasurable and formless realms, conducts himself in this way, not generating the thought of considering the two grounds as the grounds of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, but desiring omniscience and patience, this is the perfection of patience of the great Bodhisattva practicing the immeasurable. Thus, not abandoning diligence for the sake of abandoning non-virtue and accomplishing perfect virtue, entering and emerging from immeasurable meditative formlessness, even if realizing the aspects of impermanence, etc., are Hearers and Solitary Realizers.
