It is the great mind of the essence of all the most excellent ones, and the great abandonment of abandoning all faults from the view of self to the view of turning the wheel of Dharma, and the great realization of realizing all aspects of suchness and allness, these three, in order to obtain these three, one surpasses with wisdom, therefore one engages in the practice of Bodhisattva. First, Subhuti, because this Bodhisattva can become the most excellent of the great mass of sentient beings and the great class of sentient beings, therefore it is called Mahasattva. Thus it is said. After that, the sutra says that from the eighth stage of lineage, the four stages of fruition, self-born, the first arising of mind, between the Bodhisattvas who dwell on the irreversible ground, there is talk of mass and class. Among them, mass refers to the general sentient beings, and lineage etc. are classes, therefore class is specifically referred to. So, is this first "great" the excellent one itself or becoming the excellent one? If it is the former, it is not explicitly stated in the sutra. If it is the latter, the one who can become the excellent one is the Bodhisattva, because this great exists in the Bodhisattva, so it contradicts the previous boundary. Furthermore, this great is said in the sutra to be the reason for establishing the Bodhisattva as a great hero, so it is unreasonable to think that it is also on the Buddha ground, if you say so. Such discrimination arises in those who follow the Dharma, so I will answer this. For example, when engaging in battle, one only hopes that victory itself is the goal to strive for, and making it victorious is only a method, so one does not want to become a method. Practicing the three greats is the reason for establishing one as a great hero, so one does not want to become the goal to strive for, but the three kinds of activities to be accomplished by those three practices are the goals to strive for. That is to say, the sutra also shows the three kinds of activities to be accomplished by showing the reason for establishing one as a great hero. Thus, the Ornament of Clear Realization says: Thus, not striving for victory from victory, in accordance with the Dharma, one should know that it shows the three ways in which the practice of Bodhisattva needs to strive. The Sunlight Treatise also said the same thing. Thus, from the continuation of the previous sutra, with a vajra-like mind, with a torrential mind, with an immovable mind,
