It pacifies when craving arises for that. Ultimately, it completely pacifies the craving for both self and what belongs to self. As the Treasury states, "The undefiled noble lineage," and "The principle of three is shown in the last," and "The one who truly desires self-grasping of self, for the sake of its time and eternal peace." The way these become lineages is as the self-commentary says, "Because those superior to these arise, they are the four noble lineages." The difference between sharp and dull faculties is also established as lineage. As the Treasury says, "Some are of that lineage from the beginning, some are transformed from training." Thus, although only the name of lineage is known, there is no distinction made and established between two lineages. The Sutra School believes that the difference in the six sense bases is an obscuration that can be perfumed, but no proof is seen for this. Secondly, the Secret of Meaning states, "Perfected accomplishment is also of two types, namely permanent and impermanent," and "Whatever is impermanent is also of two types, namely the nature of true wisdom and the nature of seed," and "The nature of seed is also of two types, namely naturally abiding and truly accomplished." Thus, the name Alaya-consciousness is also applied in relation to the naturally pure lineage. As the Jewel Garland Lion's Roar Sutra says, "In relation to the seed of purity, all sentient beings have the essence of the Tathagata." Thus, the naturally abiding lineage is considered to be the ability to generate the uncontaminated above the Alaya, which is conditioned. The Compendium of Vehicles also says, "Here, the seeds of habitual tendencies of hearing, small, medium, and large, are also regarded as the seeds of the Dharma body, which are the antidote to Alaya-consciousness, and therefore not the nature of Alaya-consciousness." Thus, like milk and water existing together on the Alaya, only the general increase occurs, and like a swan drinking milk from water, the seeds are exhausted and transformed. This also speaks of impermanence. Similarly, what is said in the Ornament of the Sutras is also conditioned, namely, "Elements and faith, practice, differences, and distinctions, because of different results, it is established as a difference, it is said to be certain that there is the nature of lineage." Thus, as the means of establishing the three vehicles' lineages

Belief and, differences in faith in the three vehicles of dependent origination, and differences in whether or not to definitely accomplish, and since the result, enlightenment, has three levels of superior, intermediate, and inferior, it needs to be accomplished. If it is Suchness, then apart from the difference in the nature of phenomena, there is no difference in self-nature, so it cannot be accomplished by differences in faith and so on. Furthermore, the lineage of the Lesser Vehicle is completely exhausted at the time of its own remainderlessness, while the Great Vehicle's lineage is not exhausted even at that time, for this reason, it is considered a superior lineage, and if it is Suchness, then cessation is impossible. Also, in the Compendium, it is said that the two obscurations, and the continuums that can only abandon afflictive obscurations and those that cannot be abandoned, are said to be the Great Vehicle, the Lesser Vehicle, and the extinct lineage, respectively. This also refers to the seeds on the basis of the foundation of all. There are also two types of lineages that do not establish the foundation of all, namely, those that abide in nature and those that arise from growth. In the Bodhisattva Grounds, it says: What is lineage? In short, there are two types: those that abide by nature and those that are truly accomplished. Among them, the lineage that abides by nature is the distinction of the six sense bases of the Bodhisattvas, which is transmitted from one to the next, has beginningless time, and is obtained by the nature of reality. Among them, the lineage that is truly accomplished is that which is obtained from having previously cultivated roots of virtue. And in the Hearer Grounds, it also says: What is the nature of that lineage? It is different from the body, is grasped by the six sense bases, is obtained by the nature of reality, and is transmitted from beginningless time. So, what is the distinction of the six sense bases? To this, some say that since the five faculties should not be the lineage, the sixth sense base should be the mind sense base. However, according to the Prasangika-Madhyamaka view, the five faculties are also merely appearances of the mind, so it is sufficient to leave them as they are. Some say that the sixth external sense base is the distinction of the dharma sense base, or the inner Suchness, because it is said to be obtained by the nature of reality. For this, the first two think that it is within the six sense bases, so there is no confusion about what the six sense bases are, but about the sixth sense base and the six itself.
